Som sammenfører av de tre virkelighetene som Maria innebærer er Ixchel den av de tre gudinnene vi bruker fra Mayaenes gudeverden som et egentlig bilde på Maria..
Maria er ikke mulig å beskrive som en person.
Hun er Madonna. Hore. Og Judas. I ett.
Dette er ikke noe mysterium i seg selv, og hun har ingen ekstreme egenskaper som muliggjør det, i utgangspunktet.
Skjebnen eller Isis ville det slik.
Maria er en del av Maria Magdalena.
Hun ER Judas.
Samtidig er hun den som muliggjør Jesus' virke. På en positiv måte og i katolsk tradisjon.

She corresponds, more or less, to Toci Yoalticitl ‘Our Grandmother the Nocturnal Physician’, an Aztec earth goddess inhabiting the sweatbath, and also appears to be related to another Aztec goddess invoked at birth, viz. Ixchel bærer en knyttet slange på hodet.
Det peker mot Quetz som hun antagelig var nødt til å slippe løs da aztekerne tok over (og derfor årsak til mayaenes undergang...).
Samtidig peker det mot israelernes slange i GT. Maria kan også sies å holde Slangen i tømme.
Dessuten peker det mot egypternes Edjo.
Som Jaguar føyer hun seg pent inn i rekken med løvinnen og Nubia.
