Okay, so I can't remember if I mentioned this in my past blogs or not, so if I have and you're tired of it, go ahead and scream at me.
Anyway, Last year I set a goal for myself of reading at least 10,000 pages. I set this when I began keeping a log of all the books I read, just for my own amusement. Being the nerd that I am, I made an excel spreadsheet, so it became relatively easy to tally up the total pages and whatnot, and being obsessed with numbers, I set the said goal for myself. (I think this was in March and I'd already gone through 2000 pages so I thought what the hey)
In any case, I finished the year with 10,591 total. So I thought for 2007 I should double it, and see if I can get to 20,000 pages....which quickly changed to well, let's see if I can average about 2000 pages a month, or 24,000 for the year. And I was on track for that until about May, when I sorta lost my mind again and never really made much headway.
Then I got back into it a month or so ago...finally. I should be nearing 16,000 or so by the end of this month, and I'm pitifully way back on that one. I finally finished two nights ago Tolkien's The Silmirillion, that was the longest 300 pages and three weeks of agony in this venture so far. But now I'm at 10,400, so I'm pretty much at the same point I finished last year. I'm thinking I can make it to 20,000, but we'll have to see on the 24,000. Who knows. the other part that I'm worried about is that I've become too fixated on that number, and that I'll subconsciously read 'easy' books to ensure I get there. Again, oh well. I'll have to be careful. Anyway, sorry this isn't a real fascinating blog, but I in a weird state right now anyway, way to tired but hopped up on so much caffeine I can hardly see straight. Welcome to my world.
