Ahcha....
So friggin tired.
Kampfer's DONE.
The kit that I've had 85% done for a month.
I had to clean house.
I had to go on a date.
I had to help my brother set up his portfolio.
He's done.
I mean... yeah I need to finish the harnesses for the bazookas, and sturmfausts, and I need to assemble the beam sabers (all 2 pieces) and slot em into their spots.
Here's the crazy thing
the shoulder mounts for the bazookas are already partially articulated.
Jesus why would a robot need to fire from his hands?
Also- Guncannon and Guntank.
I mean, come on.
Some of the first suits you designed had shoulder mounted artillery
why did weapon design go
BACKWARD a step in 15 years?
So... why did I hate this kit?
... guide wires.
Bandai can NOT get this shit right. Doing the waist tubes on this unit was not fun.
It didn't help that I misread the instructions
and cut the guidewire.
...
well, that's why I have a spool of wire in my box.
*shrugs*
Not as forgiving, not as user friendly, but I cut it, I adjusted it, I capped the ends, and I jammed it into place at five sockets on a semi-flexible piece
I want you to think about that, because its a pain in the ass.
It got me thinking though. And I think I will be in the market for more malleable guidewire... and more cloth mesh sleaves. I could've made a pretty cool braided pipe effect
Not that this step wasn't too damn hard as it was.
Anyway, got the first guidewire done
I'm not even fucking with the mine-whip, there's no sheathe, and its not really a standard weapon.
I'm already planning a Gouf Custom and a Kampfer custom.
I about have my debts paid off, Just need that adjustable aircompressor and that midgrade airbrush.
Have I mentioned I hate Marc Summers?
I don't think I'll go to Fichten's level on those two, and print off my own transfer surface effect screens (HOW THE HELL DOES HE DO IT!?) hell I might even buy 2 more kits and have vanillas and customs.
I do need to hook up with mechaskunk and get some ball bearings and metric drill bits.
And I need to find out what putty and sandpaper grade to use if I'm that worried about seams.
... I'm not. The seams on MG's are pretty well placed.
So...
I have my Zaku II design in my head (basically just a black Zaku with a rolling stones decal)
Dom colors on a Gouf and recast the Gouf Custom saber, drill holes, add loops, probably add a yellow mono-eye
Kampfer custom...
I really just want to improve the all around functionality of the weapon holsters and just slap on my custom colors. Find a way to add a shield.
But I'm tempted
tempted but not sold
on buying the aluminum thruster conversion kit and doing 2 sets of aluminum shoulder spikes.
There's a ton of rivet slots on Kampfer
just waiting to be measured drilled and filled.
It bears pondering.
He's a jet propelled assault platform
you should really give him the space and tweaks he deserves.
He deserves to be imposing.
Next challengers:
Gelgoog.
Zeta/Zeta variants.
And how to make a gelgoog cool.
