The Silence

The Silence Once his heart stood proud and unscarred, As his soul guided him through this life, But now, he is uncertain and scared, But he is trying to conceal The silence that has taken over his heart. Through the tribulations that life Sets forth for one man, He has faced them with a strength That many would have never seen, But the strength needed hardens A man's heart and blackens his soul, But then suddenly a light From just a smile, Whether it be intended as just a friendly smile, Or an immediate attraction, To allow a him a chance to live again. His heart breaks the silence More and more each day, It is rarely heard by anyone, Just himself. He turns from the day to the night, And as he lays his head On the soft fluffiness of his pillow, He thinks of the smile that lit a flame in his soul. And he dreams of the laughter That fills his heart with a light and a song-- A song to break the silence. A song just for her.

Until Tomorrow

Until Tomorrow The words I spoke, they were right, And the fear that they brought, It was wrong. I made one mistake by not seeing, And another by not holding on. Candle lit dinners, And movies along the way, How can it be that all these Would bring fear to the heart Of a man who is so in love? He has the strength to make it through, But fear of hurting her, It became true, His own fears and insecurities, Took the love that he feels, And made him let go. She's not like the others, He has lost control, And that she would even still talk Is something that he will never Understand. An Angel she was, and always will be, And the one that brought happiness To his heart and one that will Always be the one that he will love. He knows that until he admits To her that he loves her, And that he wants to be with her. He just needs to take the time to show her. He wants to show her. And until tomorrow, If she would let him that time, He wants to hold her in his arms, And be the one that brings the sunshine Into her life.

Wonders Of The World

They say that there are seven natural wonders In this world, But then they have not been blessed with you in their life. They say that angels only exist in Heaven, And can only reside above, But they have not been gifted with your presence. To travel to the ends of the earth, Will not be too far, To have a moment in your arms. To travel to where the four winds would blow, Will not be too far To look into your eyes. To travel to the depths of hell, Will not be too perilous to venture To be with you and show you the love That has come to me since you. They say there are only seven wonders, But they would know that's not true Because on this earth, there is an angel, You are that angel, and your are a wonder That would be a blessing to any man, And I have seen the eighth wonder, And I am blessed by knowing you And I am a man that will hold this discovery to himself, And share the wonder with the world By shouting from the mountain tops At the end of the earth where the four winds blow. This is the love of a lifetime, The eighth natural wonder of the world. Robert J. Nye (2008)

Ashes

He loves without condition, And he does all from his heart, And it has led him to be passionate About all that he does. He sits in the wreckage Of where this life has left him, And he doesn't even understand How he has gotten here. He looks at the charred remains Of a life... of a love... That he once had, and realizes It is nothing but ashes. Grey remains of what once existed, The perfect life, the perfect woman, And now all the remains is ashes. Can tomorrow bring the sunshine? He knows not where to go from here, For she was his angel, She was the one that allowed him to live, Because before there was her, There was darkness. Now that she is gone, there is only ashes. Robert J Nye (2008)

Drinking The Pain Away

He twists open another beer, And places the bottle to his lips, And slowly lets the cool liquid Attempt to quench his thirst, But it's his soul that is thirsty, It's his heart that has been broken, And it's not going to be fixed By consuming this alcoholic beverage. It's only going to be numbed Until the headache of the next day When he wakes to find that his heart Is still shattered, And no matter what he does, He can't drink the pain away Because it just comes back, It just haunts him. Like the memories of her touch, The memories of her laugh, The memories of how she made him feel, And then the haunting feeling of her Ripping his heart from his chest. No amount of alcohol, no matter what, He's not truly drinking the pain away. Robert J Nye (2008)

Painkillers

He sits bewildered at the moment When she caught his eye, And the shattered heart he held In his hand seemed to begin to mend, And it started beating again. Even in the pain that he felt, The crushing pain, the heat of being burned, It still holds in his memories, But they fade slightly As if her personality had medicinal value, As if she, herself, was a pain killer For a broken heart. He doesn't understand how he could trust, He doesn't know how she could touch His heart and make it heal itself. She has given him the cure Without even realizing it, Without even trying to be anything Except herself. She's what he needed, And what his heart desires, And he can stop taking these painkillers-- They never worked for a broken heart anyway. Robert J Nye (2008)
