The Silence
Once his heart stood proud and unscarred,
As his soul guided him through this life,
But now, he is uncertain and scared,
But he is trying to conceal
The silence that has taken over his heart.
Through the tribulations that life
Sets forth for one man,
He has faced them with a strength
That many would have never seen,
But the strength needed hardens
A man's heart and blackens his soul,
But then suddenly a light
From just a smile,
Whether it be intended as just a friendly smile,
Or an immediate attraction,
To allow a him a chance to live again.
His heart breaks the silence
More and more each day,
It is rarely heard by anyone,
Just himself.
He turns from the day to the night,
And as he lays his head
On the soft fluffiness of his pillow,
He thinks of the smile that lit a flame in his soul.
And he dreams of the laughter
That fills his heart with a light and a song--
A song to break the silence.
A song just for her.
