Although the days under Bush were tough, it is seeming to get even tougher under Obama - to no fault of Obama as he is doing what he can, under the circumstances. In fact, one of the smartest moves was him putting a ceiling on those making over $100k on the Hill and cutting their ability to make more during these hard times for everyone, demonstrating for the first time (by ANY President) that they are about for the people. While the people are taking paycuts etc at their place of businesse to survive this hard flow of times, the government is also going to feel the reprecussions as well. SMART, very smart, for Obama to do that.
Where I work, they have already laid off 9 folks; and then recently there was a 10% paycut for anyone making over $40k. We're anticipating that we might have to go to a 32 hr work week instead of 40. This would still keep us at a fulltime status; however, we would get paid strictly for 32 hrs instead of 40. They are doing everything that they can to avoid heading for another lay off.
This, being in the midst of many others being laid off. In fact, 60 Minutes did an expose tonight on the DHL losing a huge amount of its workforce through staggered lay offs.
Other things will have to be considered as everyone tightens their belts. I may have to forego, for example, my VIP status, although I am going to hang on to the lounge for as long as I can afford to do so. Potentially having 8 hrs less of pay is going to hurt a lot. More penny pinching even more so.
If you don't hear from me for a while. It isn't because I don't enjoy my friends and family here on Fubar; it is just that a necessary choice has had to be made to network among Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Y'all can find me on there too via my GMAIL account bluebonnetfields.
I have created a bank account for another business and taking a lot of free workshops when I should be sleeping after working this overnight job I have on the crisis line. Although it might not be a great place to start a new business; it can't do no harm in trying.
I will try to check in here as often as I can. I have been on here for almost 3(???) years now. Hard to believe, but I have truly enjoyed every moment of it. Missing it dearly as I am working some things that I must do at this time; however, will be here as much as possible. Sometimes, thinkg that have been such a habit in the past, are just hard things to put down and out of sight. I just don't see that happening.
Y'all do keep in touch with me, frequent my lounge, and keep encouraging all to keep up the faith as we all tighten our belts for the upcoming ride.
