What are you waiting for?
This has been an interesting year with the economic whirlwind with people trying to hang into their jobs and keep their finances afloat. I had the enduring task of many physical therapy sessions resulting from a car hitting me last Thanksgiving while yielding to oncoming emerging emergency vehicles off Loop 360. Was in the physical and water therapy until October and will begin again as soon as the months warm up to get into the pool again. Hopefully, it will warm up soon. While I it was a challenge to do during the day and work on the overnight shifts at night, I am grateful that my range of arm movement is beginning to slowly come back around (estimation is for another year to be fully recovered).
I am so grateful for family and friends who kept encouraging me throughout the year. Some may never realize how much they were encouraging me, but they were; some were giving me so much encouragement throughout the year that I feel that I can do nothing enough to repay them, but I really appreciated having them at my back and then some.
I am so grateful and proud of my daughter. She has had a trying year with studying for nursing, keeping up with Kaeden, getting accepted in the nursing program to be a RN soon, getting a PT job at Seton Hospital as a CA beginning in January 2010 to get some hands on experience before graduating from the nursing program, and challenged by the relationship she has with Aaron at this time. While she has gone through a lot, she is standing tall and forging ahead with great determination and I can't tell you when I have been more proud of her.
I am grateful for my granddaughter who never ceases to amaze me as she grows throughout the year, speaking incessantly of an Abby she knows from school who I have yet to meet! lol.... She brings a great deal of joy and laughter into this world as she moves from the toddler twos to the terrific threes. Although she doesn't know where to stop drawing at times, she is really a great, lovable child.
I am grateful for the fellow advocates that I work with as well. We are constantly learning from each other on how to become better advocates, as if that is possible for some -- as I feel that I am learning from the best on earth.
I am grateful for those I work with dj-ing. There is a great sense of family among us and we love helping each other out whenever possible and maintain peace from those who try to bring drama influences. Working with these folks this year has made me really realize how many family units I truly have bringing peace, happiness, and the joy of music to as many that we can possibly influence.
I am grateful for Laurie Zieber too who brought me on her show this year, SHE SPEAKS TO INSPIRE on Blog Talk Radio. She certainly is a bundle of inspiration in herself and I was fortunate to be a part of her mission this year; and, hopefully, in years to come.
I'm grateful to Lymph World and other lymphedema advocates who have made it possible for me to get some treatments and garments that help my lymphedema be not so bad this year; or, at least, much more manageable. From them, I've learned so much more about speaking up for myself. While I find it easy to advocate for others, it has been a great journey about advocating for myself as well much more so than I have ever been able to do in the past - especially with regard to the lymphedema condition.
I'm also grateful for my friends that play Lexulous and the other games on FB. I haven't played games enough in the years past for some reason. They have allowed me to slow down and relax to enjoy some of the games from time to time... (lol... well, it seems more than just from time to time these days because the games can be addictive at times, but all in all it has been pure enjoyment to do so).
I'm grateful for Facebook bringing me back in touch with many of my high school friends, many of them that I lost contact with over the last 30 years. The youth of today have no idea how lucky they are to have all this technology at their hands to help them keep in contact with one another. 30 years might not seem all that long ago for some folks - but, you have to remember too that internet wasn't fully utilized until the late 80s at best, more so though in the 90s. We've come a long, long ways with improving our means to be connected with others over the years.
Oh, my goodness. I could go on a long list of family and friends and never be able to personally tell them all how much they have meant to me, but please know that you are all treasures in my heart in one way or another.
Moving forward to 2010 - can you believe???
Just think if all that we did in 2009 will be with even more awe in 2010, what could that possibly be?
In work we talked about making intentions and mission statements instead of resolutions for the new year, which often we set ourselves up for failure with. So as I am ending this 2009 year, I have beem reflecting upon what I could possibly come up with....
I think that it would probably be best to say...
I am going to continue to try to inspire others in all the ways that I can - whether it through blogging, music, photography, art, on the hotline, writing a novel, having my own show on blog talk radio, or any of the numerous creative ways that I can come up. My mission will be to find just how many ways creativity will allow.
How many do you think that will be?
