well, my first blog, so please be kind. my spelling is not always correct, and i have a nasty habit of saying WHATEVER comes into my head, so it doesn't always make sense. oh well. you always have the option of clicking the mouse, and making me go away. which leads me to the point of this. here goes....
i have found hours of great entertainment in the mumms. I have become a regular, and have had some great fun in there, as well as great conversations. But, as of late, some folks have taken it upon themselves to inform me that i possess an overabundance of stupidity, and I am apparently very closed-minded. I wish to inform everyone that this is DEFINATELY not the case! Quite the contrary.
I used to be very liberal ( I AM an artist, for Pete's sake! ), and participate in the whole " protest the establishment" thing. I believed that everyone is equal, and should be treated equally. I wanted to save the planet, and i joined and/or helped create organizations to further the causes that i deemed worthwhile.
Then, due to circumstances in my own life, things started looking different to me, and my views started changing. I became convinced that everybody IS NOT the same, and we all have different roles to play in this drama we call "the human race". For example......someone has to be wealthy enough to purchase a fast food franchise, in order for those of us either new in the workforce, or slighty job-skilled challenged, to have a place of employment. Someone has to be on top, in order for the rest of us to have something to strive for. If someone hadnt had the financial backing when Bill Gates had this crazy idea, we wouldn't be chatting around the planet from our bedrooms right now!!
That being said, my views are not based in non-tolerant, republican-esque, closed-minded simplicity. Believe me, it would be better if they were. I wish it was that cut-and-dry. My beliefs come from years of experience, and being on ALL sides of the fence, at one time or another. I've been a preacher...I've been to prison. I've lived in the north,south,east, and west ( last count it was 7 diferent states! ). I've lived in my car...I've lived in million dollar homes. I've lived in the country, surrounded by cowboys and hillbillies....I've been the only white boy in a brick city. I dropped out of high school.... I went to college ( allbeit for a short period!! ). About the only thing that I havent experienced personally is drugs. Never did them, never will. Some things I just don't wanna know!
If youre still reading, let me summarize this by saying the following: Dont think that because I am straight, white, and conservative that I am always wrong, racist, and/or intolerant. I just feel the way I feel, and I LOVE to debate. I will always be respectful of other's beliefs and values, and I only ask the same respect from you.
And for those of you who like to get butt-hurt because I don't agree with you....GET OVER IT! THE ONLY PERSON YOU NEED TO CONVINCE IS YOU!!!
