What you thought I'd spend money on this site to mark the occasion?
Maybe I'd beg and plead for pointzes omg!
Nope.
I've seen the whores the fakes the jaggalos the martyrs the advertisers and the garage rappers all come and go.
If you haven't figured it out by now, you haven't spent more than 30 seconds on me.
I'm not here for that.
I'm not sure why I'm here.
Seriously.
The amateur porn that it was is pretty much gone, and 90% of you are very boring.
But then there's the 8% I like to mock, the 1% that shock me
and the 1% that engage me.
Thanks for that.
So how did I celebrate this momentus occasion?
Mostly in my garage.
I didn't get everything I wanted done today. I probably need one
ONE last layer of primer, and there's a set back,
some paint pooled in the head/visor and ... gunked up the part
the mixture was too wet, and I didn't move the piece enough when I was applying the paint.
Woopses happen.
While the paint was drying I popped back inside and sanded my Gouf's sword. Unfortunately... I didn't take any "before" shots.
It basically went from a huge middle-eastern falchion down to a chinese backsword.
(that's a sword with only one edge that you can put your hand on for leverage and maneuvering :P)
I'll get some pictures laterish.
I actually reduced a LOT of mass from it.
I'd say at least 30%
It wasn't planned, I was just getting the nibs off and then
*snipk*
The very thin, very fine tip of the falchion went flying off with very very little pressure applied.
I think it looks pretty good. A bit more... minimalist, and I don't think I'm done with it either. I kinda want to bevel the back, the concern with that though is that I'm still planning to drill some holes in the back. Less mass, more holes=less stability.
I somehow managed to land extra cuts on my hands... they just keep piling up.
So... paint's drying, I'm cutting and sanding 1/2 an inch of my tubes for practice (its gonna be hard cutting those things and sanding them evenly to measurement)
I can even add a curved surface the most difficult aspect really is evening the cut and keeping things a consistent parralel length relative to the original cut. I think I have a pretty good understanding of the challenges ahead.
a mini vise would help.
Sanded some skewers for masking/decal application in anticipation of the multiple colors on one part on the next few kits.
Didn't get any panel lining done, still intimidated by it. Don't know what shapes and grooves to add where and I don't want to stab my fingers while I do it.
I dunno why I held off on ordering a pin-vise and drills today... I'm a little worried about keeping them organized. What am I gonna do, tattoo it on my hand "#52 is for rivets! #52 is in the top drawer in the pill box!"
*yawns*
That was most of today. And my brother called for a couple hours. Some color theory and MTG concepts bounced out.
I think I sat in front of my kit and started and stopped panel lining for about an hour.
These are definitely the kit to learn on. I just need to jump in.
