We recently celebrated our 237 Birthday with the usual firworks and BBQ/s across the nation.
But sometimes we forget what Indepence Day is all about and the impact it left on the World
and on our daily lives as free Americans....When you think of what our founding fathers took on
with this declaration is really a credit to their character and principles of life. liberty and the pusuit
of happiness for all people who were oppressed and persecuted for wanting these freedoma.
They went to war with the most powrful nation in the World at that time in Great Britain.
Even though the Brittish were at war with France they were still a formidable opponent.
With a well skilled and experienced army. The continental army was a collection of hunters and farmers
who had really no experience in warfare....so it was a major undertaking to declare independence at that time.
The continental army under the command General George Washingto lost most of the battles against the Brittish.
But thanks to their perserverance and love of freedom they won the war.
During a fierce battle in which again the continental army was outmanned and out gunned.
The Brittish General Cornwallis replied "those soldiers must have tar in their heels?
He was refferring to a Noth Carolina brigade that stubbornly held their line. Hence the name "The Tar Heel" state.
It is this commitment and courage that lead to the victory at Yorktown in which General Cornwallis was so emberassed
that a rag tag army of hunters and farmers who became professional soldiers defeated his mighty army.
He was so emberassed he sent his subordinate to surrender....General Washington returned the favor by sending his
subordinate to accept it....These events have made the United States the greatest country in all of the World where people from all
walks of life seek hope and oppurtunity for a better life and to enjoy the precious taste of freedom that we sometimes take for granted.
Our founding fathers proved that being an Idaelist with a with an unconventional concept for that time can work.
People in the middle east are just discovering that how precious freedom can be.
Enclosing just remember while you were having a cook out and watching the fireworks why this day is so special.
