NEW YORK -- Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych started play in their U.S. Open semifinal more than an hour late Saturday, after heavy rain and a tornado warning. But the womens final between 14-time major champion Serena Williams and No. 1 Victoria Azarenka was postponed from Saturday night until Sunday because of more rain in the forecast. The tournament did not immediately announce what time that final would begin. A storm hit Flushing Meadows at about 10 a.m., dumping showers that continued past 11 a.m., when Olympic champion Murray and 2010 Wimbledon runner-up Berdych were originally supposed to be on court. The match began at 12:25 p.m. in wind topping 20 mph. Saturdays schedule also included the other mens semifinal, between defending champion Novak Djokovic and fourth-seeded David Ferrer. The U.S. Open is the only Grand Slam tournament that schedules two mens semifinals on Saturday. If both arent completed Saturday, the mens final cant be played as scheduled Sunday and needs to be delayed until Monday -- which has happened each of the past four years in New York. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the New York City boroughs of Queens -- home to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center -- and Brooklyn as a line of strong thunderstorms moved through Saturday morning. There was no immediate indication whether a twister actually formed or touched down. During the womens semifinals Friday, it was muggy with temperatures in the 80s, though Williams didnt have to worry much about the weather or anything else, really. Her 6-1, 6-2 victory over the 10th-seeded Sara Errani of Italy turned out exactly the way pretty much everyone expected. Even Errani, who acknowledged afterward her main goal was pushing the match longer than an hour. It wound up taking 64 minutes -- 10 fewer than the third set alone of Azarenkas 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over four-time major champion Maria Sharapova in the other womens semifinal. Williams will be in her 19th Grand Slam final, a string that began at Flushing Meadows in 1999, when she defeated Martina Hingis for her first title. "Its stressful against her," Errani said. "She puts a lot of pressure on you." Azarenka will be participating in her second major final; she won the Australian Open in January to reach No. 1 in the rankings for the first time. Heading into the U.S. Open final, Williams owns a 9-1 record against Azarenka. "Ive got to do something different, to be honest," Azarenka said. Asked whether she would watch video of their past matches, Azarenka joked: "Well, I dont want to be depressed." Last year, Williams was stunned in the final at Flushing Meadows by Australias Sam Stosur, a match best remembered for Williams directing a series of insults at the chair umpire, including, "Youre just unattractive inside." Two years before that, Williams launched into her infamous foot-fault tirade and was docked a point on match point, ending a semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters. When it was mentioned to Williams that nothing of that sort has happened this year, she replied: "Hey, its not done yet." "I did grunt once today, and I thought, God, I hope I dont lose the point," said Williams, who has lost 19 games in six matches so far. "Like I said, my goal this year was not to get in any fights." Strikers Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, who were signed ahead of the former captains defection, squandered their few chances. Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys China . Dwyane Wade finished with 24 points and eight assists for Miami, which got 18 from Chris Bosh and twice saw its lead cut to three in the final minutes. Cole delivered the answer both times with a pair of jump shots, and the Heat escaped. http://jasonhavens.org/cheap.html . Not even their defence has been good enough to overcome the offensive ineptitude lately. Unable to protect whichever quarterback is healthy or get out of their own way, Arizonas offence has sputtered during a losing streak that reached three games with Sundays stuck-in-the-mud 21-14 loss at Minnesota. "We think the defence is doing a great job, theyve put us in position to win every single game," Cardinals guard Daryn Colledge said Monday. "We owe it to them to play better football." Arizonas defence has certainly held its own. The Cardinals (4-3) have the NFLs fourth-best scoring defence, allowing 16.9 points per game, and theyre seventh in total defence, giving up just over 312 yards. Arizona has 22 sacks, two behind league leader Green Bay, and has had a knack for coming up with big plays, forcing eight interceptions and seven fumbles, including one returned for a touchdown. With numbers like that, all the offensive really has to do is make a couple of plays and avoid big mistakes. They did just that early in the season, opening 4-0 for the first time since 1974, 14 years before the franchise moved from St. Louis to the desert. Over the past three games, Arizonas offence turned it over too many times, allowed way too many sacks, been unable to come up with plays downfield or when in scoring position. The Cardinals have scored 33 points during their three-game losing streak and overall have given up an NFL-high 35 sacks, including 29 the past four games. "It kind of feels like were not handling our side of the ball," Cardinals running back LaRod Stephens-Howling said. "The defence is playing great, the special teams are playing great, we just need to pick it up and score points." Injuries are certainly a part of Arizonas offensive struggles. Quarterback John Skelton, who won a tight battle with Kevin Kolb to open the season as the starter, sprained his left ankle in Arizonas opener against Seattle. Kolb took over the next five games, only to go down with chest and rib injuries in an overtime loss to Buffalo two weeks ago -- the same day Skelton was back in uniform.dddddddddddd Running back Ryan Williams is out for the season after suffering a shoulder injury against St. Louis on Oct. 4. Beanie Wells has played three games and is out until at least Thanksgiving with a turf toe injury. Stephens-Howling missed two games with a hip injury and returned against the Bills. Tight end Todd Heap hasnt played since the opener due to a knee injury and left tackle Levi Brown is out for the season with a triceps injury. The attrition has led to plenty of shuffling and moving players into unfamiliar roles. "Thats the NFL, you face that," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "You dont have 90 (players) like you do in training camp, you only have a 53-man roster, and part of our continuity on offence is struggling because of that. You cant use it as an excuse. Youve got to move forward." All Arizonas offence had to do was move forward just a little against Minnesota after the defence held the Vikings to 209 total yards. They couldnt do it. The Cardinals started four possessions on the Vikings side of the field in the first half and came away with one touchdown -- set up by an interception by the defence inside the 20-yard line. Arizona failed to get a first down on two of the drives and Jay Feely missed a 47-yard field goal on the other. The Cardinals beleaguered offensive also had a hard time keeping the Vikings pass rush away from Skelton, who was sacked seven times and spent most of the day throwing off the run. Skelton ended up with two of the games biggest gaffes, losing a fumble with Arizona in position for at least a field goal and throwing an interception that Minnesota safety Harrison Smith returned 31 yards for a touchdown. "We cant make those kinds of mistakes where we are as a team right now," Whisenhunt said. The Cardinals need to clean it up quick. They play NFC West-leading San Francisco on Monday night and have games against Green Bay and Atlanta coming up. ' ' '
