NASHVILLE -- Jake Locker has practiced for the first time since dislocating his left, non-throwing shoulder and coach Mike Munchak said the Titans quarterback is on target to return when Tennessee hosts Indianapolis on Oct. 28. Locker loosened up Wednesday by throwing a few short balls before working in individual drills. He also threw during 7-on-7 for the defence for his first practice since dislocating his left shoulder Sept. 30 for the second time in four games. Munchak said Locker did what they hoped he would be able to do, and the coach watched the eighth pick overall in 2011 in individual drills. "It was what we hoped hed be able to handle," Munchak said. "Now its just to see how sore he got and keep progressing and giving him more to do. Hes a guy you have to hold back. He wants to be out there. In his mind, hed be able to play tomorrow if he had to play. Well see how sore he got from what he did today and keep adding more to his routine." Veteran Matt Hasselbeck will start Sunday in Buffalo (3-3) for the Titans (2-4) with Locker returning to the starting lineup against the Colts if there are no setbacks. Even if Hasselbeck leads the Titans to a second straight win, Munchak said he will have no problem returning the offence back to Locker, who started the first four games. "We feel comfortable because the receivers, everyone hes so familiar with the offence that if hes ready to play next week that there wouldnt be any doubt hed be the guy playing," Munchak said. Hasselbeck is completing 60.2 per cent of his passes for 726 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. Hes also been sacked eight times. Locker has thrown for 781 yards with four TDs and only two interceptions while being sacked three times. A good sign for the Titans is that receiver Kenny Britt was not on the injury report Wednesday. But Colin McCarthy did not practice and wore a walking boot Munchak said was only to protect the linebackers right ankle. McCarthy played every defensive snap in the 26-23 win last week over Pittsburgh, and Munchak said they hope McCarthy practices Friday. Notes: Defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (shoulder) also did not practice and is expected back Friday. Linebacker Zach Brown (illness) did not practice along with running back Javon Ringer (left knee) and cornerback Tommie Campbell (left ankle). Brown is expected back Thursday, while Ringer and Campbell are out against Buffalo. Although theyve gained points in consecutive losses, the Flames are not helping their postseason cause with their recent 0-1-2 stretch. Calgary has fallen into a tie with San Jose for the 10th seed in the West and is two points behind Los Angeles and Phoenix for the conferences eighth and final playoff berth. The Kings and Coyotes are in action tonight against St. Louis and Colorado, respectively. The Flames, who are 6-2-3 in March, were dealt a 2-1 overtime loss in Colorado on Tuesday, as David Jones scored with 1:09 left in OT. The victory allowed the Avalanche to jump into the seventh seed in the West, one point ahead of the Kings and Coyotes and three in front of Calgary. Matt Hunwick skated the puck in down the left wing during the winning sequence and dished it over to Paul Stastny, who got to the net and put on a shot on Miikka Kiprusoff. The save was made, but Jones was there to stuff in the rebound. Matt Stajan scored the lone goal while Kiprusoff stopped 31 shots for the Flames. "We played well but we missed some opportunities," said Calgary forward Alex Tanguay. "Right now we wish a few more of them would go in. Were doing okay, not all thee teams are going to go undefeated the rest of the way.ddddddddddddIts a setback, but we have a game in hand still and this is a game that could have went either way." The contest began a three-game road trip for the Flames, who are just 14-16-8 as the guest this season. Calgary will complete the swing Saturday afternoon in Dallas. Calgary hopes to get back on track tonight against a Wild team that has been all but officially eliminated from the Western Conference playoff race. The Flames have also won four in a row in this Northwest Division series since losing the opening matchup between the clubs in Calgary on Nov. 8. The Flames have also won three of their last four games in St. Paul. Minnesota is coming off Mondays 2-0 home win over the Vancouver Canucks. Josh Harding made 33 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Wild surprised the defending Western Conference champions at Xcel Energy Center. Erik Christensen and Kyle Brodziak scored for the Wild, who had lost three straight and eight of nine coming into the win. "Everyone was putting their body on the line for me tonight," said Harding. "We just want to come out here every game and put our best foot forward the rest of the way." The Wild had been winless (0-3) on a five-game homestand before beating the Canucks. Minnesota is 16-15-4 as the host this season. ' ' '
