The right thing?

It was a cold February morning, and a young security officer was making his way home after having worked a long ten hour shift it had been snowing the last couple days so the ground was covered in a good amount of powder like snow. Because of how early in the morning it was there wasn’t a lot open but the young security guard did not want to go home right away so he pulled into the parking lot of a Wal-Mart and parking next to a tan 1996 Chevy the parking lot lights where dim because he was so far back but he could see pretty well. As he climbed out of her car he saw out of the corner of his eye a young woman who looked to be in her early to mid thirties in the back seat with her back propped up against one of the passenger side doors, and wrapped in her arms was a little boy couldn’t have been no older than seven asleep with his head on his mothers chest. The woman was awake clearly trying to keep her child warm as tears ran down her face like a faucet it was obvious they were sleeping there. With a sigh the young security guard walked into the Wal-Mart only to emerge several minutes later with a plastic bag containing a large heavy blanket as he got back to his car he saw that like he predicted in the store the woman was still there, and still awake. So he lightly tapped on the window startling her slightly but she quickly recovered and rolled down the window saying is something wrong? The security guard just smiled at her and said yes maam you appear to be sleeping in this freezing weather without a blanket. And with that the security officer passed the plastic bag containing the blanket through the window, and quickly put his hand up to silence the woman as she tried to protest saying she can’t accept it as she has no way to repay him. The guard just smiled and said you don’t owe me anything just try to stay warm, and with that he climbed into his car and drove away. The woman a little bewildered paused for a moment before pulling the blanket it out and throwing it over her sleeping son when she noticed a small envelope had fallen to the floor boards from the blanket. Inside was a short letter that read don’t worry about repaying me the blanket is my gift to you I don’t know your story but I can tell from your face it’s not pleasant and it probably feels like your trapped with no way out of this mess but I can assure you that if you’re willing to work hard it will get better so when you’re ready call this number. P.s. it’s supposed to get colder I suggest staying in a motel. Before the woman could even make a smart comment about not having the money for a motel six 50 dollar bills fell from the envelope it wasn’t much but it was enough to make the woman break down and cry with tears of joy he didn’t even know her or her story but he was helping her in more ways than 1. Meanwhile the security guard had made it home shortly after the encounter at the Wal-Mart but despite having been awake since the previous day he could not sleep so he instead sat down, and wrote about his chance encounter with the woman on that cold February morning. ------------ Yes this is about me. It happened on february 15th around 4:15 am. I think I did the right thing but I'd like other peoples opinons.
