SHARK WEEK!!!!!

Good Morning, another scorching predicted for the West Side of Lower Michigan today. Mid to upper 90’s color me hot… But, Shark week is still going on, on the discovery channel whoo hoo! I am such a geek on stuff of that nature. Throw in an adventure with knights of the round table and I am in seventh heaven. But honestly I do get mesmerized by the fascination of those creatures of the deep and not so deep. I once seen a internet video of a Shark airborne, it escapes me what was video enhanced in that it was attacking in flight from the sea. I think it was a surfer. But in realistic values the video that had been enhanced was that of a Great White Shark trouncing a seal. Yes those huge sometimes 15 to 20 foot eating machines can go airborne from deep to speeds that allow them to jettison their whole body out of the ocean and clamp onto it’s next meal. Feel safe in a boat now do ya? Honestly that is not the only shark that can do so. The Mako is another streaky fast cruiser of the ocean known to leap out of the water and catch it’s pray. Last night was yet another installment of amazing facts and videos compiled by studies from oceanographers and marine biologists. They were conducting tests to see how certain sharks relate to humans in a feeding frenzy. No not a feeding frenzy on humans but, that of their natural pray. I can tell you this. I am a diver and I know when a shark is in the area it’s a feeding frenzy no matter what! That is one fish that does not stop to sleep, except that of the nurse shark variety, those normally sleep or stay in one position for a long, long time. But I feel I may be boring you with useless facts…if you never go into the ocean or plan on it Sharks mean nothing more then those creatures found in large city aquariums. Me being a Lobster, Sport and Scallop diver it’s a force I need to be well acquainted with. In the Florida Keys the Hammer Head is the shark most prevalent with the Bull shark and reef sharks a close second. The Hammer head loves the shallows and will hunt in two to three feet of water… oh you say that is just around the knee… yes it is beware. They normally do not attack humans…normally… The Bull however is a Human eater and has been known to dip into the shallows for a quick feast…beware! Now does this mean because there are creatures there that can bite our leg, arm or take a chunk out of our ass. Yes skippy, there are things in the ocean that might hurt you more then you them and not have control over your own outcome. But, do you fly? Take a train, play golf? Do you smoke, drink drive a car? Show me one thing that can not kill you or is not dangerous and I will tell you that it is safer to swim in the ocean then in some pools… Oh and yes too much sex will certainly be disastrous too… but dieing with a smile on ones face surely beats that of a look or terror…hmmm I think this is my Q to wish you a fine day in what ever you have planned… A huge hug many pats and a caution… just the right amount of anyone of those warnings is wonderful… Marty
