We have an election comming up. There are many items that are being discussed. such as taxes, the war, health care, social security, our economy and many others. But there is one thing that isn't talked about. Never brought up, and maybe it should be. Now you might want to ask your canidates what they think about this, along with your local representives. See what they say. I plan on asking these questions of a few canidates. I will post thier replies when I get them, as I will also post those that just plain ignore me. I plan on putting this in my blogs and e-mailing it out to everyone on my list. Hopifully several of you will do the same and this might become a viral e-mail that gets someone's attention, and maybe the problem will be addressed.
Now I might come off as heartless and uncaring. But any of you that really know me will not that is not the case. I just belive that before you clean up your neighbors back yard you need to get all the trash out of your own front yard first.
Now some of my facts may be incorrect or out of date. Finding up to date facts and numbers on this is like trying to get a picture of the loch ness monster.
Now every year the U.S.A. gives out billions of dollars in forgien loans and Aid. I did find one government reporting agency page that said we gave out 40 billion dollars in Aid in 2002. unable to find out the number of dollars given in forgien loans. or more current amounts of aid given out.
I was once told than only one country has ever paid back a loan and that was norway when they paid back thier WWII loan, and no other country as ever even paid intrest on a loan. Now if we got those loans repaid, or if we didn't even make them in the first place, thing of how that money could be spent in the U.S. , How much lower would our taxes be?
Now not to sound cruel. But I think we should take care of ourselfs first, once that is done then we should think about helping others. Why would we pay to build houses for the homeless in central america when every winter we have our own homeless turn away from shelters because of lack of room??? Are the living conditions of someone living in a tropical climate more important that our own people force to sleep in the cold right here in our own country.
We send millions and millions of dollars worth of medication to people in other countries yet we have people dying in our own country because they can not afford the medication to keep them alive.
Our own social security program is threating to be shut down year after year due to lack of funds, but we still keep sending money to other countries. Counties that call us names and never do anything to help us.
When the tidal wave hit indonesia the U.S. Navy was one of the first one there giving aid, We sent billions to them to help out, yet the world gave us a hard time because they said we were not giving enough. Yet when Katrina hit the only country to send any help was Mexico. Where was the help in the California fires?? The northridge earthquake, or even on 9/11?? but when ever anyone else has an emergency we are the first one's to help out. They sound like a lot of ungratiful bastards to me. We help them, then they say it isn't enough, or they find some other reason to put us down.
So ask your canidates and representives why we don't collect on foreign loans? If you or I owe the government one thin dime you know they would be all over you in no time. Why to we keep giving foreign aid to countries that do nothing but put us down, especially when we know good and well that only pennies on the dollar go where it is suposed to, the biggest part of it ends up in the pockets of those foreign government officals. We have many places to spend that money right here. I have no problem with my paying my taxes to pay for things i need here, our military, our police, our medical care, our road systems, our social security. Why should my tax dollars go to putting in a new hot tub in the palace of some 3rd world govenment employee. What is more inportant. Our senior citizens freezing to death in the winter because they can't pay thier heating bills, or putting in new street lights in some village in central africia that doesn't even have electricity?
So ask your canidates and other elected congressional representives, how many of the foreign loans are being paid back? and why aren't they all? Ask them why we are building houses for the homeless in foreign countries while we still have people here living in the streets.
Lets take care of our own first, once that is done, then lets see what we can do to help the rest of the world.
