Well My Daughter is safely back in Honduras. I took her to Houston this morning for her flight back. That was a long stressful trip. The hardest part was saying goodbye. Stephanie leaving still has me pretty much bummed out. But still it was an amazing trip.
Even though this is the first time I have seen my daughter in almost 21 years. Even though we have been talking by e-mail, messenger and by phone, everyone knows that isn't the same. but we just clicked. it was like we had been together everyday of her life. I am very blessed to have a bond like this with my daughter. I know many aren't that lucky, and I wish I could have a bond like this with my son.
For my daughter it was quite an adventure, comming in ahead of huricane Gustav. So that kept us indoors for a few days watching tv and talking. Got her hooked on a couple of my shows. Sharing music and stuff like that. We did the tourist thing, took her to jefferson, did shopping there, saw a lot of kool museums. Went on the ghost walk and got a few really freaky pics. She got to eat, sweet potatoe fries and okra. and ride in a mule drawn carriage. She discovered the dollar stores and fell in love with those. Went to Uncertain Texas, and got a few pictures, she got to try raccoon. and got to see spainish moss. We went though huricane Ike. She rode along with us on a death call that night. She made the misteak of being downwind when we were loading a decomp body for transport. She rode with me when we had to transport a body to another funeral home and she got to pass through 5 counties in an hour. She got to go to a Sonic drive in. and ride with me in a hearse. and was with me when I got caught in an illegal speed trap. All pretty much normal things for us, but a big adventure for her, and it was a lot of fun to watch her experence it.
Oh and she learned that her old white dad has no rythem as she tried to teach me to do some latin dances.
There was more I am sure that escapes my memory at this time. It was a joy to have her here, I have such a wonderful daughter. It just seems that the trip was so very short. Well 3 weeks seemed like just days. I miss her so very much, I have already found myself just going to her room and standing there looking around expecting her to say, "daddy will you get me some chocolate milk?", or something. I wish she was still here. I can't wait to see her again. (but she was expensive, I couldn't help but spoil my little girl.) Now I have to get caught up in my classes. Go back to work. It was a nice break from that stupid phone job of mine.
Well I need to just relax now, even though I took a nap when I got back from Houston, I still feel out of sorts. Then again I did drink 3 1/2 15 oz double shot espressos. You know those caffine bombs from starbucks. So time to just lay down, rest and watch some tv and get use to my daughter not being here anymore.
