HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Our faithful knight has crossed miles
Enpowered by love and passion unbrideled
As he arrives through the gates, gasps and whispers fill the air
He pays them no mind, as he is in search of his maiden so fair
He traverses through town, her smile he does seek
But the sight he sees next brings his heart pain, not peace
His fair maiden is being courted by another
But he squares his shoulders and smiles as they notice each other
He extends his hand as they come near
But his gesture is met by this devil with a sneer
"So this is the knight you claimed would return"
"But knight this my kingdom, and I have to last word"
"I wonder sir knight are you as faithful with blade as you are your vow?"
With out warning he reveals his sword," Have at you, NOW!!"
But our knight is driven by love, not lies and deceit
And with purpose his blade connects, nearly knocking the vile king off his feet
With anger and spite the king swings his sword so wild
The knight answers each blow, his strength driven by her smile
"What you dont know sire, is this maiden completes my soul"
"And with her love, I am made whole"
"So if I die upon your sword"
"Atleast I will do so keeping my word"
"For this maiden has taught me to love"
"Now be done with this game, I have had enough!"
With a parry, dodge and one final thrust
The knights blade pierces the kings armor as he draws first blood
The king screams in pain and falls to the ground
The crowd gasps in shock, then they dare not make a sound
The king rises to his feet wincing in pain
Tries to keep his balance, all his efforts in vain
His legs give way as he falls to his side
He breathes his last with a weezing sigh
The crowd breaks into cheering and celebration
The maiden races to the knight, her heart pounds in elation
The knight takes her in his arms, brushing tears from her eyes
It has been for this moment he has waited all his life
Softly he traces the contours of her chin
Its at this moment reality sinks in
As he feels her lips press against his own
He knows he has found his queen to share his new throne
Trumpets are blown and the streets fill with cheers and laughter
And from that moment on they lived happily ever after

As the knight stairs up at the moonlit sky
And gazes upon the stars so bright
He points to one to let it serve as a reminder
Of all the things he loves about her

The knight has done his duties, he has brought her safely home
He bids her fairwell, and he turns to leave alone
Fighting back tears, as to not look like less a man
But before he can take a step, she takes him by the hand

"But there is something you should know, knight, something you should hear"
"In you I have found my strength to fight and chase away my fears"
"But, my fair maiden, you had the strength all along"
"It's there every time you smile, or dance to a birds song"
"Dear knight, just honor this one last request"
"Promise you will return for me, before your dying breathe"
He takes her in his arms, for an eternity it seems
A weight has lifted from his soul, his heart is finally free
"I shall return for you, I just dont know when"
"There are many miles between us and they seem to never end"
"I must return home to tend to matters there"
The maiden starts to sob, as she run her fingers through his hair
"Remember this dear knight as you head homeward bound"
"Every day I am not with you my heart shall break like a goblet upon the ground"
They bid farewell as he mounts his trusty steed
He rides off into the sunset, and one day shall return for his queen
