Mystery Lady
Sittin' there all alone
smokin a cigarette
such a sad sad sight,
trying to remember
while trying to forget
what brought her there
that night .
Dressed in black
and feeling blue
I was wondering
what I could do
so I walked over
and offered her a drink or two.
I asked her what brought her here,
in her eye's I saw a tear,
she said "I'd tell you but my story's a little long.
I said, " It's alright, I don't care,
if it takes all night tell me,
what brought you here."
That was 10:00 o'clock
now it's 2:00, and there was nothing
I could do, I was captivated by
her story of heartache and pain,
but most of all her strength
not to go insane.
I offered to take her home,
she said no thanks , I don't
live that far, just around the corner,
I didn't even need my car."
All of the sudden
she began to smile,
I knew it was something
she hadn't done in quite a while.
I went around the corner,
from the directions she gave,
the only thing I saw
was a solitary grave.
I went back to the bar
early the next day
to try to get her name,
the bartender said,
" That's our mystery lady,
and for those that listen to her story,
are never quite the same."
" Here my friend,
have another drink or two,
it's from our mystery lady,
who from this point on,
will always be a part of you."
