As a lounge owner it is your right to know if the radio station you are playing is legal. Please ask the station owner these questions.
Are they affiliated with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SoundExchange?
Do they pay performance royalties to artists?
Are they fully DMCA and RIAA Compliant.
If their answer is No or that they do not know, then they are breaking the law and the operating site (lounge) may be held accountable for all fines along with the radio station.
Here is another hint on if they are on the up and up or not. Does their station play commercials? If not, then they must be independently wealthy because to run a legal internet radio station costs $30,000 and up, per year (depending on how many listeners are tuned in).
For an example of a completely legal station come check us out.
