so my bar is so empty right now and im really bored... glad my boss doesnt care if im on my lap top at work... decided i needed another salute today and im making it up right now... this bar-bitch needs one surrounded by alcahol lol... stay tuned for the salute! there we go.... got it done... man you know im bored now...

Im lying in bed listening to the rain drops outside my shutters. Sounds so peaceful... yet not putting me to sleep. sigh.. sleep... i miss that right now... so yes.. my last blog i was pulling a double against my will ... im so tired of bull shit.. YOU DONT CALL OUT TEN MINS BEFORE YOUR SHIFT STARTS!!! NOT FUCKING COOL.... sigh... and i tried to get him to cover my shift ... no dice... had to get off of working a 16 hour shift and go home and get back to work 8 hours after i was finished... sigh.... i just wanna sleep at least i dont have to walk into the bar tomorrow... ill get my check on thursday when i go to work... night

Will took lee and i out today when i got done work... long story short had to go to wal mart to get stuff for my new snake... (btw he needs a name) anyways... we dropped the snake stuff off at my house (along with the other junk lee and i threw in the cart...) and headed to will's house in the 9th ward. I'm pretty much a quarter rat as it is. Its hard to make me leave the quarter but hey sometimes we all gotta... SO to get my ass back to the story we left for will's house. Will lives in part of the 9th ward that is being built back up. the house he lives in had 8ft of water sitting (water was actually higher than that but sat at 8ft) It was a nice house actually.... the inside was completely redone i loved it... Then we went on our drive a few blocks away. It actually made me want to cry looking at these cement slabs and stairs that would lead to nothingness for blocks... This is my home... I live here.... I love this city. I can't imagine how it must be to go back to your home and see it washed away. Will has been posting pics from the lower 9th ward from while he was cleaning it up. Got to see one of the levees too. i was shocked how high the water was even today... Everything just hit home today and blew my mind. Im sitting in the car as we are driving ready to ball my eyes out. Tourists come down here all the time.... they walk into my bar and wanna go see the devistation. And other bartenders and staff have given them directions. Ill admit i was a little curious... When i arrived here I saw it around the outside of the quarter and it was quite erie to say the least. While in the 9th ward i saw a sign that said something like tourists should be ashamed to come down here. Shit i couldnt imagine going to a city and wanting to go out to the ghetto and look at the damage. Its insane. Why do you want to go see people hurting. Many people lost everything they ever owned. I dont know. i mean its extremly overwhelming... in fact im tearing up right now just thinking about it... if you want to see the pics check out my friend will's ct page.... curled up in my comfy recliner and wandering aimlessly through the world of the internet.... i took a nap... it was so nice ... then my wonderful nap was disturbed... wilum was banging on the front door.. .woke my hubby up from his nap to prepare for work tonight... "the bar is on fire" to which my hubby replied (half asleep i might add) "thats nice ill take care of it when i go to work tonight" lol... my hubby crawled back in bed and i walked in to find out what was going on.... He gave me the message and told me to wake him at 9... though i was thinking in my head... wait... ur bar is on fire ... how are you gonna work tonight..??? The on-duty bartender called and asked him to come over.... we went over.... fire trucks were lined up around the block and we had to figure out what was going on... made phone calls to the owners and bartenders to let them know what was up......... FUCKIN CRAZY! luckily, there was no real damage to the bar.. the fire was controlled upstairs... so there is mostly water and smoke damage... after the firemen were done.. we were all sitting in the bar (bartenders.. owners... and myself) drinking .... by candle light... felt like i camping or something.... although i was almost hurt by a falling ceiling tile.... it missed me by 2 seconds..... the scary thing was i had been standing where it fell for about a minute.... i heard it fall and turned around frozen like OMG!

its funny, i bartend here in the quarter and my bar gets a lot of foot traffic from people that reside all over the world... why new orleans? living here gives one a new disposition on life as it would seem.... we live our lives as we wish... truly this is the first city i have found where a persons oddities are the norm... ( i should know i walk around with wings attached to my hoody) tattoos and piercings covering people ranging from their 20's to their 60's even 70's. If you dont fit in somewhere... New orleans is the place to be. I see people that come here for 6 months and are ready to move on ... they have learned to accept themselves and are ready for their next stage in life. me... im happy here... yes with post-katrina still handing over our heads all we can do is live as we are... Most of us are great people with great intentions... ive never felt so loved anywhere else. But yes like any city we all have our problems... and with the hurricane story still holding us back we have the crime. Crime will occur everywhere. It is unfortinutate that it is human nature. But as a message to those who are lost... new orleans is a great place to be found...

so with mardi gras only a few weeks away... im trying to figure out what my costume should me. Last year i was Wonder Woman and i need something different... i will be bartending and there isnt much room behind the bar... so i need a costume that will work while bartending.... ... no wilum im not going naked... any ideas?

Since the Eagles game last week... everyone has been asking me ... "who are you rooting for?" (im origionally from Philly... but i dont like the eagles... my poppop raised me right.. im a Steelers girl lol...) ... sigh... i honestly dont care... Yes it is great that New Orleans is getting some good attention and that people are coming to visit... GREAT.... .... it just sucks because im gonna have to bartend during the game... ... right off bourbon street... with the drunks... my regulars..... the tourists ... and the crack heads.. .......... so how many am i going to be throwing out? ... ::duh duh duh:: ............ stay tuned for the conclusion ...
