Dealing with loss

In Memory of Billy As a child my big brother was great to play with. In Houston he was my private bucking bronco until I was bucked off when I was in Kindergarten and broke my arm in three different places. Good thing kids heal fast. In Carrollton I lost my cool with him and was going to kill him with a pair of scissors. He locked himself in the bathroom and laughed at me which made me want to get to him even more. I tried to open the door with the scissors open and almost cut the top of my pinky off. Aw, fond memories. As tough as that seemed at the time, it is one of the many things that Billy and I laughed about as we grew older. When I was a teen and Billy was in College he would come home and visit and we would talk of life and love. He was an honorable man and a virgin at 25 years of age. This troubled him and we sat for hours talking about how it was a good thing. He knew that in his heart but he would say, “It is hard being in College and being a virgin these days.” We shared a lot of laughs. I would say or do things that would gross him out just to hear his contagious laugh. He has given his children so much of himself. Meghan was Daddy’s girl and got his heart and soul. Christopher got his sense of responsibility, his looks and his laugh. Patrick got his love and zest for life. Billy was such a wonderful person that lived for family peace and unity. It hurt him when we did not get along with the love of his life. He would say, “I love her and that is all that should matter to everyone.” We all have spousal dissention and we all live with the paths that we have chosen. All we can do for our selves and our children is to love each other no matter what, but most of all, Show the world God’s love. Billy did in his life and we can show it in his death. I will do my best to carry on the legacy of family peace and unity. My big brother Billy, I love you and will see you again when it is my turn to go home to our Father’s House. Billy was the oldest of 11 children my sister had. His sister number 4 wrote this. Since Billy was so close to my age, he was more like a brother than a nephew. Always remember the big bear hugs he would give me and say "I love you Aunt Patrica". The night we all went to the bar and he would twirl me on the dance floor. He was a special person.
