hehe in my last blog I posted about the chemicals but I forgot one.
SLS-Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a wetting agent that allows shampoo to spread out and penetrate more easily. It is found in shampoos, deodorants and cosmetics. SLS will damage the stratum coreum [outer layer of the skin], causing dryness, roughness, scaliness, fissuring, loss of flexibility and reduction of the barrier functions of normal healthy skin. It can cause damage to the moisture retaining ability at the cellular level resulting in water loss and loss of water-binding ability. It is a mutagen, which means that it is capable of actually changing the information in genetic material found in the cells.
A great solution to harmful hair and skin products includes cucumbers for the eyes, 1/4 vegetable oil with fresh herbs for a relaxing bath.
raw eggs are also a great natural remedy - crack an egg or two into a clean glass jar and pat onto the skin, allow to dry then wash off or wash your hair in eggs. The protein in the yolks seal in protein and help keep hair and skin looking shiny but not oily and keeps hair strong.
powered milk added into a warm bath can also keep skin young and fresh.
