Was the New Year when her heart broke,
Was a cold winter when he lied,
was morning when she realised,
was evening when she died.
The love that she had wanted was the one she could not keep.
By day she couldn't stand it,
by night she could not sleep.
He told her that he loved her,
then turned and threw it all away.
Her foolish heart had broken,
with words not meant to say.
She lay there in the darkness seeking shelter from this world.
