ST. Todd McClure Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The way Tampa Bays bullpen has been performing, right-hander James Shields didnt have to be as sharp as usual to get his AL-leading fifth victory. Sean Rodriguez and Luke Scott homered for the AL East leaders, and Shields (5-0) weathered a rocky first inning to remain unbeaten with a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night. Joel Peralta came out of the bullpen to shut down a Seattle threat in the eighth, then worked a perfect ninth for his first save of the season. "He picked up a real big-league save there with five outs. That was spectacular," manager Joe Maddon said. "Hats off to Joel Peralta. Everything else that happened well or good tonight, it was all about him. He permitted us to win the game." Shields allowed four runs and five hits, walked four and struck out 11 over six innings to win his sixth straight decision over two seasons, matching the longest winning streak of his career. Kyle Seager homered twice off the 2011 All-Star, driving in all of Seattles runs. Over Tampa Bays last 10 games, the bullpen is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA, 39 strikeouts and five saves. Opponents have 21 hits and scored five earned runs in 31 innings during the stretch. "We fought until the last out of the game. Thats what our team is about, and what weve been doing all season," Shields said. "And again, our bullpen was phenomenal." Rodriguez hit a two-run homer off Blake Beavan (1-4) in the third inning. Scotts solo shot off the Seattle starter glanced off centre fielder Michael Saunders glove before clearing the wall to snap a 4-4 tie in the sixth. "To be honest, I dont really know what happened there," Saunders said. "I know I got a piece of the ball. Thats it. ... It was just one of those plays that happened so fast. I hit the wall and came down without the ball." The Rays won for the 10th time in 11 games. The Mariners have lost a season-high five straight following a four-game winning streak that included a sweep of Detroit to begin a 10-game, 10-day trip that ends Thursday. Ichiro Suzuki walked and Jesus Montero reached base on an infield single before Seagers three-run, first-inning homer snapped an 0-for-30 drought with runners in scoring position for the Mariners, who lost the first two games of this four-game series despite outhitting the Rays both nights. Seagers third homer of the season, a solo shot into the right-field stands, wiped out a 4-3 lead the Rays took on Jose Molinas two-run double in the fourth. Shields won again, though he was far from his best. Despite posting a season high for strikeouts, his four walks also were a season high and the right-hander allowed a pair of homers for the second straight start. He threw 38 pitches in the first inning -- 119 overall -- before turning over a one-run lead to the bullpen. Peralta got Alex Liddi to foul out on a 3-2 pitch, then Ben Zobrist made a nice running catch in the right field corner on Justin Smoaks fly ball to shut down the Mariners with the potential tying run on third base in the eighth. With closer Fernando Rodney unavailable because he pitched three consecutive days, Peralta fanned two of three batters in the ninth to pick up his ninth career save. "Shields usually gives us eight or nine innings. Today he didnt," Peralta said. "The bullpen felt like weve had to back him up, keep the lead and get that win for him." NOTES: With 3B Evan Longoria sidelined up to two months with a partially torn left hamstring, Maddon at least temporarily plans to fill the three-time All-Stars position by committee. Will Rhymes started at third base after Elliot Johnson filled in for most of the previous two games. Maddon said Jeff Keppinger and Rodriguez, Tampa Bays regular shortstop, also could get some starts there. "Its possible to pick somebody," to start on a regular basis, Maddon said. "But I really would anticipate its going to be a revolving door. ... The slumping Smoak was dropped from fourth to seventh in the batting order as the designated hitter Wednesday night. He could remain in the No. 7 hole for a while, however manager Eric Wedge stressed that he eventually wants Smoak to return to the middle of the lineup. "Ive always been one of his biggest fans. I know hes going to get it done. But right now, hes not getting it done. Were in the business of winning ball games here, so I had to make an adjustment." Authentic Julio Jones Jersey . The 70-year-old Eusebio was hospitalized in Poznan late Saturday after feeling ill, hospital spokesman Stanislaw Rusek said. Doctors performed a coronary catheterization, which determined that Eusebio had not had a heart attack, but merely complications from poor health. Dunta Robinson Jersey . The 34-year-old Mengual has called a news conference in Barcelona, and is expected to forego the chance to compete at the London Olympics this summer. http://www.theatlantafalconsgear.com/matt-ryan-jerseys . -- Everett Golson and Andrew Hendrix have emerged as the front runners to be Notre Dames starting quarterback. Authentic Roddy White Jersey . The terms for the agreement were negotiated during a bargaining session held in Buffalo, NY last week. The two sides have also agreed to continue negotiating on a long-term CBA for the 2014 season and beyond. Thomas DeCoud Jersey .Va. -- Ted Potter Jr.s first PGA Tour victory means a lot more than a big paycheque.MANKATO, Minn. -- Greg Childs came to the Minnesota Vikings with draft-bargain promise, bringing a prototypical wide receivers body with the speed to be a deep-route threat despite dropping to the end of the fourth round because of an injury-affected senior year at Arkansas. That potential might be forever unfulfilled. Childs fledgling NFL career took a devastating hit when he tried to jump to catch a pass in an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday night and ruptured his patellar tendon -- in both knees. Childs went for surgery on Monday. Theres no timetable for his return. "Hes got a tough road ahead of him, no question about it," Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. "I mean, youre talking about both knees." The patellar tendon runs down from the kneecap to the shin bone. "We are all hoping for the best," Frazier said. Vikings athletic trainer Eric Sugarman could only recall former Chicago wide receiver Wendell Davis as a player who previously suffered these freak simultaneous patellar tendon tears, in 1993 on that infamously unforgiving artificial turf at Philadelphias Veterans Stadium. Frazier spoke optimistically about medical advances that should give Childs a better chance to recover two decades later, but Davis never played again after his comeback attempt failed. Childs was distraught, according to Frazier, but also determined to resume his career. "He is going to work extremely hard and get back to playing again. That was his attitude, and those were the words he shared with me: Coach, Ill be back. Im going to do it just like I did before. Im going to work as hard as I can. Ill be back out here to help the Vikings," Frazier said. "That is a great attitude under the circumstances." Another factor working against Childs is that he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee less than two years ago, an injury that essentially allowed the Vikings (No. 29 in the AP Pro32) to get him where they did in the draft. Childs was fast becoming one of the best college receivers in the country until he was hurt a little more than halfway through his junior season in 2010. He wasnt the same as a senior last year, limping noticeably during Arkansas first preseason practice and struggling to hang onto the ball. Childs finished with only 16 catches and 192 yards in 2011 while Jarius Wright, his friend since childhood who was also drafted thiss year by the Vikings, became the go-to Razorbacks receiver. Sam Baker Jersey. Wright declined to comment on Monday. Childs, on Twitter, thanked his followers, fans, friends and family for praying for him and said, "I will be fine." The Vikings placed Childs on injury waivers, a procedural move that must come before they can put him on injured reserve. With Jerome Simpson suspended for the first three games of the regular season, the Vikings have again found themselves thin at this important position. They still have standout Percy Harvin, of course, and veteran Michael Jenkins is around, but hes more in the possession-receiver mould. Wright is more of a Harvin-style player in the slot. Devin Aromashodu is the most obvious option on the roster to fill in for Simpson while hes out, but Childs wouldve been a welcomed bonus for this offence had he been healthy. Stephen Burton, a seventh-round draft pick last year, has become a stronger candidate to make the team. "We still think we have some options on our current roster without having to just bring a guy in for the sake of bringing a guy in," Frazier said. NOTES: Geoff Schwartz, who was competing with Brandon Fusco for the starting right guard spot, will have surgery on Tuesday in Philadelphia to repair a sports hernia. Frazier said Schwartz could be back in a month but also acknowledged his recovery could take as long as eight or 10 weeks. ... Frazier said running back Adrian Peterson, who attended a court hearing in Houston on Monday, will stay on the physically unable to perform list for the rest of the week. Hell be valuated after the first exhibition game on Friday at San Francisco. ... The Vikings will need a reliable third runner behind Toby Gerhart, while Peterson is brought back slowly. Jordan Todmans opportunity has been hindered by a sprained left ankle. He was back in pads for Mondays practice but didnt take part in many activities. That puts Lex Hilliard, signed as a free agent after spending the past four seasons with Miami, as the front runner. ... Frazier said hell try to attend the funeral for Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles coach Andy Reid under whom Frazier worked from 1999-2002, if he can make the schedule work. General manager Rick Spielman will be there. Reid was found dead at age 29 in his dorm room on Sunday at the teams training camp. ' ' '
