Sunshine! Second day in a row! Will wonders never cease, lol.
I have to tell you a bit about yesterday's belly dancing workshop with Meleeha! She teaches at the University of Iowa, I believe - dance, of course. I remember seeing her perform at the last workshop - she was fantastic!
Since we only had three hours, she mainly worked on technique - proper use of hands and arms, projecting power - yeah, I liked that part; projecting energy, where to look during specific moves to communicate with the audience. And she is such a hoot, very sexy, very earthy! We all felt right at home, very quickly.
We spent a full hour on "walking", lmao! That's different types of walking moves to get from one place to another on stage or if you dance at a club or restaurant, lol! I will definitely pay more attention to how I walk, lmao! Amazing, I knew some of this stuff when I was young and single. How did I forget so much - must have been the kids, lmao!!
She gave us some killer exercises to strengthen our lower back and abs. Not to mention, we got major instruction on creating a strong standing base. Frankly, I hurt all over this morning!! But in all the right places, lol.
All in all, it was a terrific class! I have never taken a dance class before the belly dancing! So much feeling/emotion can be communicated to others by the way your move. I will definitely take more of her classes, every chance I get!!
And I bought a new hip scarf, a little narrower one, but still with all the jingly little coins. And I found a beautiful shawl I can use as a hip wrap as well! Yes, I love discovering all the little treasures to make my costumes unique! It's a girl thang, lmao!!
The Venus Retrograde ends two weeks from this past Friday! The energy has been sending me up, down, around, and through - don't know about anyone else, lol. I've learned much and have plenty more to learn, I'm sure. Work those issues!!!!! I'm filling up the pages in my Journal fast and furious. I go nowhere without my Journal in tow!
