Well now I have heard it all. This apparently will be coming to a nation near you. Let’s just say animal rights activists are just going a little overboard. Good Morning…
The world's most extensive array of animal "rights" took effect in Switzerland in September. Dog owners must take, at their own expense, classes in pet care.
I agree with the Swiss on this however…dogs are animals that more likely then not get treated badly by neglect. Fish come on…What ever happened to give a man a fish he will eat for one day, teach him to fish he will eat for a lifetime. Now the Swiss want us to have anglers take a class in humane treatment of fish. Ok Edith you had me at hello! But isn’t the fish going to be a meal? I am against gill-netting and fishing with Dynamite but how do we treat fish humane gas them to sleep? It is a food source…what next the hand picking of grapes and corn and apples this will certainly be more humane then using machinery to harvest the crops…… Ok where was I? Ah yes…Animals listed as "social" (including goldfish, hamsters, sheep, goats, yaks) must be kept with or near another of their species. Yaks! How many Yaks can one get in their yard? Goldfish must have some "privacy," e.g., no completely transparent tanks, and can only be killed humanely (never flushed alive). Privacy???? Holey smokes no walking around naked in the house again, I might be giving the fish a x-rated show… Even mud-loving pigs are entitled to showers. Wait I have to shower my pig off…Please! Yet, Swiss animal rights activists complained that the country still permits trading in cat fur (supposedly a pain-reliever for rheumatism), So now we have to knit cat coats for the bald cats due to their fur being used…and that some new protections (for example, for rhinoceroses) are still inadequate. How does one handle a rhinoceroses? Holey crap aren’t they the ones with the horney nose? I tell you how you handle them…behind a huge ass concrete wall…I am still on this give a goldfish privacy kick…just what good does curtains do on a golf fish tank…wait I can see it now… at the local Wally Mart…goldfish curtains…or, wait a gold fish tank made with opaque sides…we will call it a box! I have to tell out cat Milo to be on the watch for fur stealing Swissians… I see this escalating into a full blown mess before it is over… You know what people have too much time on their hands when we are giving to much rope to those who are sick in the head with ideas like these…granted I agree animals, pets more precisely get bad homes we all have seen unloved uncared for animals…but…some of these Swiss Animal Rights are borderline crazy!
The wine event: Turned out marvelous, not enough people but fun. His sales at our party was 40 plus bottles which he said he needed 60 bottles or more to make gas money round trip…oh well..
It was a riot to say the least, the last people left around 12:30am so we were totally tired afterwards.
