New York, NY (Sports Network) - Notre Dame has ascended to the top of the latest Associated Press college football poll after a second straight Saturday of upsets. Justin Smith Limited Jersey . The Fighting Irish improved to 11-0 with a 38-0 rout of Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon, then watched both Oregon and Kansas State fall a few hours later. Notre Dame received all 60 first-place votes and a total of 1,500 points from a nationwide media panel. The Irish were last ranked No. 1 back in November 1993, and are now a victory over Southern California away from a likely trip to the BCS National Championship Game. Alabama, a week after slipping to No. 4 following a loss to Texas A&M, moved up to second following a 49-0 thumping of Western Carolina. Georgia also moved up two spots to third. Should the Crimson Tide slip past a 3-8 Auburn squad in the Iron Bowl next Saturday, Alabama and Georgia will play for the SEC title the following week in Atlanta. Ohio State, which is also undefeated after an overtime win at Wisconsin on Saturday, moved up to fourth. The Buckeyes, in their first year under Urban Meyer, are ineligible for postseason play in the wake of NCAA sanctions from Jim Tressels tenure. Oregon dropped from first to fifth after a 17-14 overtime loss to Stanford and is followed by Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida State. Kansas State tumbled five spots from second after a 52-24 thrashing at Baylor. The second 10 consists of Stanford, Clemson, South Carolina, Oklahoma, UCLA, Oregon State, Nebraska, Texas, Louisville and Michigan. Stanfords big win vaulted the Cardinal three spots from 14th, while UCLA moved up two places following its 38-28 victory over arch-rival USC. Southern California will stand in the way of Notre Dames perfect season next Saturday at the Coliseum and will do so as an unranked squad. The Trojans were the top team in the preseason poll, but have dropped completely out of the rankings after Saturdays loss to UCLA. The last teams ranked this week are Rutgers, Oklahoma State, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Utah State and Mississippi State. Utah State and Mississippi State, both among this weeks newcomers, are tied for 25th. Oklahoma State moved into the poll for the first time this season after a 59-21 victory over Texas Tech, which was 23rd last week and fell out of the poll. Northern Illinois, which has won 10 straight since a season-opening 18-17 loss to Iowa, joins Kent State from the Mid-American Conference. Utah State also joined the poll for the first time this season, knocking Louisiana Tech out of the rankings with a 48-41 overtime win in Ruston. The Bulldogs had been 19th. Mississippi State is back in the poll after a one-week absence, rolling to a 45-14 win over Arkansas on Saturday after consecutive losses to SEC heavyweights Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU. Thanksgiving week features an abundance of ranked matchups, including the annual grudge match between Michigan and Ohio State at the Horseshoe and the Civil War between Oregon and Oregon State in Corvallis. The Bedlam Series between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma takes place this year in Norman, while Florida and Florida State square off in Tallahassee with both teams at 10-1 and clinging to slim hopes of reaching the BCS title game. Also Saturday, Stanford and UCLA meet in the Rose Bowl with a potential second matchup set for the following week in the Pac-12 title game if the Cardinal first beat the Bruins. South Carolina and Clemson renew their annual rivalry in Death Valley. Mike Iupati Jersey . Evans scored three of his five goals in the final quarter Saturday as Calgary blew open a tie game with seven unanswered goals to beat Edmonton 16-9 in National Lacrosse League action. Balloting was done before the NCAA tournament. The 6-foot-10 player from Chicago is the Southeastern Conferences Player, Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year. http://www.fans49ersstore.com/colin-kaepernick-jersey . Johnson (5-5) pitched six strong innings to help the Miami Marlins win consecutive games for the first time in nearly a month and keep Cliff Lee winless with a 6-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. Dwight Clark Womens Jersey . The game did get close, and unlike last Mondays meltdown, this time the Nets handled it. Brook Lopez scored 20 points, Kris Humphries added 14 points and 21 rebounds, and the Nets beat the Orlando Magic 82-74 on Sunday to complete a home-and-home sweep. Michael Crabtree Pink Jersey . Even worse, runners would disappear, and not in a good way. Too much thinking. Not enough attacking. "Certain guys got up and I would think about it, What if this happens? What if this happens?" McDonald said. NASHVILLE -- The Boston Red Sox began to play catch-up by getting All-Star catcher Mike Napoli, Tampa Bay took a chance on James Loney and the New York Yankees prepared for more time minus Alex Rodriguez during a brisk Monday at baseballs winter meetings. Soon after the Hall of Fame welcomed three new members from long ago, teams got busy. The World Series champion San Francisco Giants kept centre fielder Angel Pagan, while the Texas Rangers brought back catcher Geovany Soto and made a deal for injured closer Joakim Soria. Top free agent Josh Hamilton remained in play after hitting 43 home runs with 128 RBIs for the Rangers last season. "I saw Josh on the flight here Sunday by accident. Coincidence, I guess, is a better word than accident," Texas general manager Jon Daniels said. "Chatted with him a little bit in the airport. I know hes here probably to meet with some other teams." Quite a contrast to last years session, when the Miami Marlins often appeared to be the only player with their high-priced splashes. This time, inside the vast Opryland Hotel complex that houses a studio for famed country music station WSM, several teams had a grand ole time. Coming off a last-place finish, Boston tried to resolve its catching situation. Napoli got a $39 million, three-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. "Awesome addition to our team!" Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester tweeted. The Red Sox are aiming at another prize, too, exploring trade possibilities to pry Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets. Boston GM Ben Cherington didnt mention the knuckleballer by name, simply saying the price for pitching was "always steep for the better guys." Mets manager Terry Collins, meanwhile, left the trade talk to others. "Anybody, anything can happen anytime. Ive been in the game long enough to understand that," he said. "I dont think as managers we can sit here and get caught up on one move or another move and say, well, this is -- we cant worry about that. Weve got to worry about what we have and how were going to get better. "When we go to spring training, Im going to look at the names on those lockers, and Im going to figure out what weve got to do to be successful with the names on the lockers, depending on who they are," he added. Also in play, maybe: Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco, who went 12-13 with a 4.48 ERA this year and is signed for $11.5 million next season, asked the payroll-slashing Marlins to deal him in the wake of trades that jettisoned Jose Reyes, Mark&nnbsp;Buehrle, Heath Bell and Josh Johnson. Roger Craig Womens Jersey. "I just think that hes just looking for a better situation than he feels what is presented to him in Miami," agent Matt Sosnick said. "We defer to the fact that we have no control and hes under contract for another year. The team certainly can do as they please. We felt it was important to make his feelings known." The Yankees know Rodriguez wont be in the lineup on opening day. The 37-year-old third baseman, looking nothing like the slugger who ranks fifth on the career list with 647 homers, will have surgery on his left hip and could be out until the All-Star break. "Its a significant blow," Yankees GM Brian Cashman said. "But weve dealt with significant blows and, hopefully, well be able to deal with this one, as well." Rodriguez is a 14-time All-Star and baseballs highest-paid player at $275 million. This will be his sixth stint on the disabled list in six seasons, including a trip in 2009 after surgery on his right hip. Loney found a new home in Tampa Bay. The 28-year-old first baseman hit a combined .249 with six homers and 41 RBIs for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston. Soria reached a two-year agreement with Texas after missing the entire season for Kansas City because of his second Tommy John surgery. The Royals declined their option on the two-time All-Star for next year. The first announcement at the meetings podium came from the Hall of Fame, which said its pre-integration panel had elected former Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert, longtime umpire Hank ODay and barehanded catcher Deacon White. They were honoured for their achievements before the first half of the 20th century, and increased Cooperstowns membership to 300. Ruppert brought Babe Ruth to New York, built Yankee Stadium and transformed the pinstripers into baseballs most dominant power. He did so much, many people just figured he was already enshrined. "The family is so thrilled," great-grand-nephew K. Jacob Ruppert told The Associated Press by phone. "His mark is now indelible." "Growing up, I was under the impression that he was inducted sometime in the 1940s or 1950s. But I guess it never happened. Some things in history arent appreciated. If its not in the here and now, its off the radar screen." Expanded replay, however, is still important to Major League Baseball. Commissioner Bud Selig has said he wants to add video reviews for trapped balls and fair-or-foul calls next season. MLB executive Joe Torre said "were looking at it" but offered no guarantee that the technology would be in place by then. ' ' '
