What are you waiting for?

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home. No, he responded. Heading out I asked? No. I'm escorting a soldier home. Going to pick him up? No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq, I'm taking him home to his family. The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days. I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do. Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom. "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign." Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American. So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do. Red Fridays. Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is ..."We need your support and your prayers." Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday. IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON.
Okay I expected low down dirty shots from government officals before but this is by far the worst i have ever heard in my almost 22 years on this earth and by all people made by someone who served . Senator John Kerry Said and i quote "We are here to talk about education but i want to say something first. If you make the most of it you study hard do your homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well if you don't you get stuck in Iraq"
What the fuck is that who the fuck made Kerry fucking god. So everyone who is serving in Iraq is stupid? is that what the hell he is trying to say? I am so freaking angry , I expect bullshit like that out there from other people from people who don't understand the point in serving but to stab at troops serving their country calling them basically stupid. I'm sorry bot Senator you are Dead Wrong in you're statement. Some of the brightest and most educated people i have known have served in the military So to say that stabs at everyone who serves their country. I feel a shamed i put my trust in you in the last election. And as much as i dislike the bush administration at least we never were called stupid by that administration. God help you Senator because you have just lost the respect of all of the United States Military!

Most people that know me, know that my Honor is very IMPORTANT to me.
Well this is true for every military person & veteran I know or talk too.
Some people also Realize, that I hate people that pick on others.
Again, the Same can be said for all the Veterans I know and Military I talk too
Now I'm not talking about the Teasing type of picking on! NO, I mean the real hurtful kind! The kind that leave Emotional Scares or damages a persons Reputation.
By, now you must be wondering what does this have to do with How to Hurt a Military or Veteran.
Simplely this, We Defend your Rights to say they hurtful things, to protest, etc. So How do you Hurt a Military Person and/or Veteran?
Protest at his or Her Funeral? Talk Trash about his/her Love Ones? Burn their Flag?
While Those are two VERY BAD Things to do & will get them VERY Angry, it will not hurt them.
So do I have you really thinking now!!!
This is just my thoughts, but this is how I think you can really Hurt a Military Person or Veteran:
I don't know Really how! We might bend, bleed & hurt on the outside. But I'm talking in the SOUL!! Because we knew it was a THANKLESS Job, when we signed up & Swore our Oath to Protect our Country!! That is the TRUE Strength of our Fighting Force, today. ALL VOLUTEER!!!
Remember these Simple Words:

GOD BLESS ALL Our Troops and Their Families. And from at Least this Veteran -- Thanks for doing the Selfless Job!!!
Do you believe in God? NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this: 86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance 14% against. That is a pretty 'commanding' public response. I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't. Now it is your turn ... It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such A mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why is the world catering to this 14%? IS IT BECAUSE WE STAY QUIET AND ARE DOING NOTHING? AMEN! If you agree, pass this on, if not, simply delete. In God We STILL Trust !!!!

Don't Close Your Blinds

I just read this in a Bulletin -- Guess what -- I had to BLOG IT (After a tear or two) The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war. My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation. He thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window. He said "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?" "I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied. "OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush." Our son giggled and said "OK." "Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that ev ery house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said. "OK Dad, I'm pretending." "Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and pretend you see Saddam come out of his house with his wife, he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he kicks her to death. Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are screaming and crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and they are afraid of their father. You see all of this, son, what do you do?" "I'd call the police, Dad." "OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations. They take your call. They listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?" "Dad.......... But the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine. "They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to ge t involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says. "But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims. "I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children." "Daddy...he kills them?" "Yes son, he does. What do you do?" "Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says. "Son, our next-door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my husband says. "But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!" "WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry. "OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?" "What Daddy?" "He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in the window and laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?" "Daddy..." "WHAT DO YOU DO?" Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I'd close the blinds, Daddy." My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him, "Why?" "Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help people who needs them...and they won't help.... You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds.... so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pret end that it is not happening." I start to cry. My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husband's questions and he says..."Son" "Yes, Daddy." "Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door... "WHAT DO YOU DO?" My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He balls up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: " I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!" I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to his chest and hugs him tight, and says... " It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife, and his children and the old lady across the way. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, befo re its too late." my husband whispers. THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen son, THAT is the greatest atrocity in the world. "YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!" BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!! SUPPORT THEM!!! SUPPORT AMERICA SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS..." This should be printed in every newspaper and posted in every school in America. Of course that won't happen so we'll use the Internet. If your blinds are closed do nothing with this email. If they are open I do not need to tell you what to do.

Military VS .............

(the last sentence is the best) Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes. He stays up for days on end. _________________________ You take a warm shower to help you wake up. He goes days or weeks without running water. __________________________ You complain of a "headache", and call in sick. He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward. __________________________ You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends. He still fights for your right to wear that shirt. __________________________ You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket. He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags. __________________________ You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you. He knows he may not see some of his buddies again. __________________________ You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists. __________________________ You complain about how hot it is. He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow. __________________________ You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong. He doesn't get to eat today. __________________________ Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume. __________________________ You roll your eyes as a baby cries. He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet __________________________ You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything. He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting. __________________________ You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him. He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded. __________________________ You see only what the media wants you to see. He sees the broken bodies lying around him. __________________________ You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't. He does exactly what he is told. __________________________ You stay at home and watch TV. He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat. __________________________ You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable. He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gunfire. __________________________ You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place because of men like him. If only there were more men like him! If you support your troops, re-send this to everyone you know, If it gets to another veteran who hasn't received it yet, it will bring back memories. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom AMEN & Bless them ALL
The 25th annual Banned Books Week is Sept. 23-30. The American Library Association says each book below has been pulled from some libraries or schools. You’ll be surprised by the list. Why were Garfield and a dictionary deemed dangerous? Visit parade.com. The Adventures of Captain Underpants—causes unruly behavior The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn—racist language Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl—sexually explicit The Catcher in the Rye—offensive language Garfield: His Nine Lives—banned from kids’ section of library only: offensive language The Handmaid’s Tale—sexually explicit Harry Potter (entire series)-occult Little Red Riding Hood—bottle of wine in basket for Grandma Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary—offensive language To Kill a Mockingbird—racist language A number of other books have been removed because of provocative pictures, racist or explicit language, or controversial ideas. Sometimes the books are “challenged”—that is, individuals request to have them removed—but the challenge is overruled, and the books remain. There have been more than 8,700 reported book challenges since 1990. Among those challenged: Mother Goose, Freakonomics, The Bible and Fahrenheit 451. “The reason more books aren’t banned is because community residents—with librarians, teachers and journalists —speak out for their freedom to read,” said ALA President Leslie Burger. To learn more, and for details about Banned Books Week (September 23-30), visit www.ala.org/bbooks. The American Library Association says this week is a great time to read a classic book.
