Did you go through a period of time (or perhaps, like me ...since day one)that your child seems completely deaf to you. You honestly cannot tell the difference....If it isn't want they want to hear they could have bomb go off in their ear...and not blink an eye...I speak from experience.
BUT...what todo about it. I finally found a new way to know if they just aren't paying attention...or they are ignoring deliberately... IT is amazing ...the results you get with this. As soon as I become aware that they have not acknowledged a word of what I have now repeated at least 3 times...I think of something that really catches them...FOR MY DAUGHTER..."Hey should we invite _____over for dinner, would you like that?" Her boyfriend of course is the invitee....
The results would astonish anyone ...for now she has given me her ears, her eyes are on me, and she is now leaning half-way across the room from me...
As for my son !!, he is somewhat harder, he knows when and where the MONSTER TRUCKS are, so I need to think of what he is all HYPED about this week....AAAAAAHHHHHHH got it..."Hey TJ, remember that rock kit you wanted,?"...(or something that meets the requirements, having him respond...GET THIS ONE...in the SAME EXACT manner as the DAUGHTER...
And to think I almost took them to have their ears checked out. I begin to wonder now...when I say go to something and they actually heard and acknowledge me...does that mean when they become BLIND???? and say "WHERE?" "I DON'T SEE IT"...if I need to plan a stradegy again or go get their eyes examined...
