Ok without getting into a whole lot of details, I am trying to break my lease effective immediately because the apartment complex is not holding up their side of the lease with repairs. I have an air conditioning unit that leaks freon, costing me money. I have waited almost 3 months to get padding replaced under my carpet after the air conditioning unit caused my apartment to flood..... the list goes on.
I have never received a copy of my lease because the management wasn't there when I signed it. They said they would send me a copy, but never have. Now they are saying that I need to give them 60 days notice, even though they acknowledge that it has taken extreme amounts of time for me to get any requested repairs done. I am waiting for the district manager to call, but they will not fax a copy of my agreement to the new apartment complex until I have not only put in notice, but paid for the 60 days up front. Until the new place gets a copy of this, they can not continue with my application.
Should I figure out a way to just pay it, and not even try to fight it. Or should I try to fight it considering how much money their lack of maintenance has cost me already? |
