Thanks in part to the over 1,500 of you who sent emails to your Representative, a bill to cut subsidies to the oil and gas industry is picking up a lot of steam - already over 190 representatives have co-sponsored the bill, and we expect a vote on it today.
This bill is a huge step forward in our fight to stop global warming. Not only does it strip away oil & gas subsidies, it puts much needed money into alternative fuel programs, which will go a long way towards getting us off of oil.

If we're going to stop global warming, we're going to have to tackle the issue from many angles. Last week, we began our effort to list the polar bear on the endangered species list, and we'll continue that next week. Right now, however, Congress needs to hear that we support their effort.
This bill is one of the most far-sighted pieces of legislation to come out of Congress in years, if not decades. It sets up better limits on offshore drilling, provides needed resources for alternative energy research and development, and sets out goals for energy efficiency.
