What are you waiting for?

Why Are You Here?

Some Fu-"Insight" after nearly 5 years here...

* A minimal number of daily "likes" probably means that you're NOT an attention whore.  BE PROUD!

* Being below level 35 or so after several years on Fubar probably means you're not an attention whore AND that you emotionally

graduated from high school.  Be proud!   Oh, and ALSO that you are not an idiot willing to spend hundreds if not THOUSANDS of

dollars on tiny animated gifs or are expecting that others do so in order to boost your ego or level.

* The longer you are registered here and able to resist entering into a "relationship" with another member here, the more

emotionally stable and less desperate and needy you likely are.  AGAIN!, Be proud that you don't need someone else in your life to

feel whole, fulfilled and happy.  Interpersonal relationships should be icing on the cake...not filling a hole.

*Romantic relationships that are entered into here are FAR FAR more likely doomed from the outset than are they likely to amount to

anything.  I have observed this WAY too many times to not know of what I speak.  You stand a far better chance of successfully

hooking up with someone if you utilize a site that is expressly designed for dating purposes.  Fubar draws MANY people that are

desperately lonely and/or in unhappy marriages and relationships.  They aren't emotionally or logicstically in a place where they can

really put themselves "out there" to seek and enter into a relationship, so they feebly attempt to get their needs met here to

   whatever minimal extend they can.

*  Just as in the real world, there are some REALLY FUCKED UP people here.  But on Fubar it seems sort of exponential.

*  This is a great place to hang out if, like me, you are a sociologist at heart and find human interaction, particularly profoundly

dysfunctional human interaction, fascinating.  A graduate student in psychology couldn't ask for a more fertile ground for

    gleaning a thesis project.

*  If you look back on your involvement here on Fubar after several years and you are completely honest with yourself, it will be highly

likely that you will view it as either a waste of time or, at best, a means of killing time.

*  People that are truly emotionally healthy and have busy, fullfilling and rewarding lives are not spending time on Fubar.  A vast

majority probably haven't even HEARD of Fubar.  How about ME you ask?  I'm a "time BIDER".  I am an individual with a

low threshold when it comes to getting my face-to-face socialization needs met.  In fact, because of the nature of my work,

they are met almost entirely between the hours of 7am and 3pm Monday through Friday.  Fubar is nothing more than a form of

entertainment for me.  In a couple of years I will retire and live where and with whom I desire and am planning to and Fubar

and anything and everything it entails will have no more relevance than the Deadly Neighbor episodes of Investigation Discovery I

    watched on Netflix yesterday.

Since It Falls

Since It Falls

remember me fondly

remember me well

all thing must pass

i don't want to say goodbye

i don't want to make you cry

i don't want to do it

we're living in a world of fools

time is running backwards

the rush hour is now

i don't mind

i'm feeling no pain

are ya gonna cruise the miracle mile

how can i explain

i'm learning to fly

how sweet it is

it ain't poetic

it ain't profound

all i need is what you've got

we believe in things we cannot see

why shouldn't we

If you recognize those lyrics then undoubtedly we can relate on some level.

With all my heart I believe that there was no better decade to have been born into than the 50's.  I would not trade it for having 30 years shaved off of my age or anything else.  I love that I can remember 11/22/63.  I love that I can remember where I was on 7/20/69.  I only wish I had been old enough to attend Woodstock that same summer.  I once had a roommate that did however.  That's as close as I came.  Robin, who was about 5 years older than myself, and his CAT attended Woodstock.  LOL.

There are times...such as tonight...drinking Tequila, celebrating my 53rd birthday, and listening to songs from that era...that I am almost spiritually and psychically transcended back to that time.  Little did we know that it was such an incredibly amazing time to be discovering the world.  Is it any wonder that in years to come there would be a TV show that would actually REFER to those years AS "The Wonder Years"?

I feel truly blessed.  I feel that being born and growing up when I did gave me some sort of an advantage.  A more open mind and spirit and ability to remain in touch with my "inner child".  I don't know...maybe a big part of that really has to do with who I am as an individual.  But I know that the individual that I am was greatly influenced by the era that I grew up in and everything that I was exposed to during those incredible and amazing years from about 1967 until 1974.

Anyway, time for me to "split the scene" I guess.  Those of you with parents or grandparents born between 1950 and 1960?...  Hold fast to whatever they impart to you from their "wonder years".  What we hold near and dear to us from our youth shall pass and fade away in the blink of an eye...at least with respect to first hand knowledge.
