What are you waiting for?

This was a quote from a fan Geddy Lee mentioned on the DVD Rush in Rio. I keep thinking about it and just how long I have been a fan. How much this band as impacted my life and the music that I write and the style in which I play. My first Rush album was Hemispheres and it was given to me by one of my uncles. At the time I was listening to Led Zeppelin and other bands of the late 70's (I still do, Jimmy Page is my favorite guitarist). And I was only about 8 years old. I played that album over and over and learned the story of the struggle between the heart and the mind by way of Apollo and Dionysus. Other songs on the record are the Tree's and Circumstances. Circumstance's I credit with giving the majority of closed minded individuals hatred towards Geddy's voice. Now I gave up a long time trying to convince people of how great a band Rush is. No body wants to hear it, no body wants to hear anything else than what is on the radio. If its complex arrangements, deep lyrics and you can't dance to it...forget it. All they have to say is "They Suck". The majority of them haven't heard anything other than a few Rush songs on the radio and they have never given the band a real listen. It's also a safe bet they aren't Drummers, Guitarist, Bassist or Keyboard players either. But hey, they can play the radio and they have all the one hit wonders in there IPods and that makes them music experts. Tonight will be my 15th time to see Rush in Concert here in Kansas City. My first was Moving Pictures and I have never missed a tour. Yes folks, they have been releasing CD's since Moving Pictures and each of them have been Gold. But you forgot to keep up with them after Signals and Grace Under Pressure, maybe you were too busy buying the new Brittaney Fox or Cinderella CD. Anyway, my wife, daughter, brother, friend and my drummer are really exited to go see the band play tonight. The Snakes and Arrows CD is packed full of some of Rush's greatist music to date. I am already anxious for a new release and another tour, maybe then my son Neil Alexander Lee will be old enough to go see Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee perform as Rush. Until then Hold Your Fire. The Juke
