Grandma Visiting Monday

...she will stay for three days! Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I opened my e-mail the other day to find a note that seemed right up my alley. Seems someone wanted me to vote for my favorite chocolate and I had to choose between plain M&M's and peanut M&M's. What a wonderful choice to be asked to make. Too bad all of life's choices aren't that easy. I will happily eat either variety. However, I really like peanuts so I checked that box and waited for the computer to tell me which fabulous gift card I woulld get for my effort. Just then the screen changed and instead of my reward, I found lots of questions. The "research firm" that was doing the "survey" wanted to know everything but my shoe size. And, my shoe size is the only piece of information that I felt comfortable giving them. I clicked forward a few screens to see what it would take for me to get that "valuable prize" and found that they actually thought I might be dumb enough to give them all sorts of information like my home address, phone number, full name, date of birth, and which type of credit cards I use. People can start whole new countries in someone's name with less information! Then, in tiny little bity letters at the bottom of the screen, they said they reserve the right not to send me my "valuable prize" unless I meet all requirements for participation in the survey. And, they didn't bother telling me what the requirements were in the e-mail. Guess I will just have to give up and go buy my own M&M's Friday. I am going to buy a HUGE bag with peanuts. {Giggles} The e-mail did end up giving me one great prize---it made me realize that I am not greedy enough to throw caution (and intelligence) out of the window to try and get their prize. And that was quite a good feeling. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Drive For FUN!

Riverby, Texas is on Farm Road 100, twenty miles northeast of Bonham and two miles south of the Red River in extreme northeastern Fannin County! POP: 15 since 1990..."Google Earth was not wrong!" {Giggles} Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Okay...YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO LIVE HERE BECAUSE: It will stink to high heaven in the Summer! COW-methane!! There is nothing in this town but birds, cows, hogs & deer. I did see a red flying squirrel. It IS a really nice place. I am sure everyone has a gun.

Cut the Grass Without Gas

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us A couple of years ago, as another lawn-mowing season began, I was persuaded to replace the gasoline-powered mower I had used for years with an electric model. The arguments for this change were three. The electric mower was far lighter than the old machine, and so easier to use. It ran on a battery so you didn't need to buy fuel. Finally, the electric mower was quiet: no engine noise. After 20-plus years trailing a snarling gas dragon around the place, I was sold. I found that points one and two in favor of the new machine were fully in force. The difference between cutting grass with the light electric mower and its predecessor was the difference between walking the dogs and pushing a load of bricks. And I liked not having to buy gas. I figure I buy enough gas, thanks. On the final advantage of the new mower, however, I found myself ambivalent. Yes, it was quiet. Was it too quiet? The irritating roar of internal combustion was now a soft electric purr; using the new mower was like cutting the grass with a sewing machine. Could the task really be getting done? Missing the familar racket of the gas engine, I found it hard to believe. Now, in fact, the grass looked fine. Improvement in our lives is possible, but sometimes it takes getting used to.

Going To Grandma's House

My Panda Express Fortune

BE CAUTIOUS IN YOU FINANCIAL DEALINGS Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I find this interesting because when I cashed a $232 check for services rendered at the individuals bank today, I left empty handed. I just deposited into my account to see what happens. "What do you think?" {Grin}

We met upon the Internet

It's the first of the month. For some folks, that means welfare checks and gub'ment cheese. Here at the homefront it always means "Spring & New Things." For your viewing pleasure is the picture below and a short poem to ALL MY FRIENDS here at CherryTap. Enjoy. I am putting my wreath up on the front door NOW! Tee-Hee-Hee Image Hosted by ImageShack.us We met upon the Internet, A friendship electronic, Expressed alone in words and thoughts, Inevitably platonic. We live too far apart for us To mingle in the flesh, But much more close than family, Our hearts and feelings mesh. Your dear, dear self reveals itself Without a voice or face. We have our own sweet home within Our precious cyberspace.
