I live in Michigan, my son's father lives in Wisconsin. He's never met my son, who is going to be 5 next month. He's been in and out of jail since he was 15 for MOSTLY drug related things. We've talked here and there over the years. He calls out of no where the other day, as usual, and says that he wants to meet his son. (for sure this time) He's just gotten out of jail recently, and he's a changed person THIS TIME. Well this is all fine and good, but I'm not willing to make the drive. I feel he should come here. Well he can't because he's on house arrest. (sounds peachy so far I'm sure) But why, after all this time, should I be the one to take time from work, school, and all my other responsibilities, for him to see his son. I think he should wait until he's able to come here (if he's even serious this time) in about 6 months, when he's NOT on house arrest. I really don't know in the first place if I want my son around his father. But my question is, should I make the effort to go there, using my own money, (he's never paid a dime in ordered child support) or should I make him wait for when he's able to come here? |
