As the moon is high and quiet rules
Of whom do you dream as you toss and turn
Dreams of pleasure or misery untold
Darkness surrounds your placid face
Your groans and sounds tell the tale
of your woeLoneliness escapes through fluttering eye
As sleep envelopes in her shroud of comfort
Twitching and turning in moonlit chamber
Comfort and warmth found only in dow
Wrapped tight against the nights chill embrace
Shiver and sigh mingling in nightsong.
Longing for hands to caress and touch
Through the night of lonely retreat
Awaken unrefreshed to the start
of dayMissing what most take for granted.
Coffee and toast, perhaps juice unshared
A single cup and plate placed alone.
Smile and laugh, joke and converse
Throughout the day all appears seren
Until the night returns to reclaim its throne
And to encase in it’s lonely embrace once more
