when love and death embrace....
its the title of song by HIM, and yet it tell the story of my blog here today.
my friend nell, has a daughter whos name is Ivory, and turned one on May 9th 2007. She turned one. This was also the same day a good man died, and I will miss him very dearly. I had just found out today though that he had passed. His name was Marcus Meis, but everyone called him Wayne. He was 68 years old. He died in his sleep at a Hopsice facility, where his daughert, Candace Lee, vivisted him faithfully and stayed by his side. She is one of my best friends, and is suffering. At the same time I was so happy for my Friend Nell because she was celebrating a milestone in her life, her daughters 1st birthday, and those are truly special. One of the most important moments in anyone life. the day you are born, your fist steps, words, walking, first birthdays, and everything else, and then theres the day you die. The day that no one will forget, even if they forget your birthday from previous times.
They say to truly say goodbye to someone is to honor their life with a funeral, and say your final words, and hope that one day you may see them again. I cant believe sometimes you have to have a funeral to completley celebrate someone life, especially when the only thing you want is to have the person back in your life.
to truly say goodbye sometimes isnt the easiest thing, and i dont think you can ever truly tell someone what they meant to you in any amount of words sometimes, without it coming out the way you played in your head. And yet when the words leave your brain, and become spoken thoughts, its never what you really wanted to say.
So, as good man is laid to rest tomorrow on May 12th in Windsor, Colorado, a little girl will be celebrating among friends and family at a first birthday party here in a park in sterling, colorado. Two people who didnt know each other, and yet two very different life changing events, both of which i will be apart of. I thank these people for letting me be in their lives. I hope for many more years myself, to share with everyone i know. And to my "second family" the Meis's and Lee's, you are in my thoughts, and Candace you will forever be my very good friend. In this time I wish that everyone express to someone in their lives how much they mean to them. You may never know what may come in the days ahead.
