We are all in need of intimacy. We can love many people in varying degrees and in myriad ways, but we will always remain in need of one special relationship. We need someone with whom we feel a unique association, who gives us a essential feeling of security and comfort, as well as a degree of privacy, and deep affection that separates them form others. Generally there is a sexual dimension that in itself creates exclusivity. It is a physical and emotional bonding that brings strength and heals us in mysterious ways.
When love is accompanied with deep intimacy, it raises us to the highest level of human experience. In this exalted space, we can surrender our egos, become vulnerable and know levels of joy and well-being unique among life experiences. We attain a glimpse of the rapture that can be ours. Boundaries are blurred, there are no limitations and we rejoice in union. We become one and, at the same time, both.
