I took my 4 year old Niece out for Trick-Or-Treat in my apartment complex, which is allowed. We can't turn off our porch lights as they come on at dark, so unless you put a sign up for no one to come by, people are going to knock on the door.
We knocked on about the 10th door, and a woman in her 30's answered the door with a scowl. My Niece, dressed as a Princess, yells out..."TRICK OR TREAT!" The next 30 minutes I couldn't believe what this woman did...
She goes on some kind of tirade about how she's so sick of people knocking on her door, how Halloween is just a holiday to sell more junk so she wouldn't buy any candy or decorations/costumes. Candy will rot your teeth so I should buy my little Niece a toothbrush instead. And the ultimate insult: Looked right into my Niece's eyes and in a loud voice said: "ALL LITTLE GIRLS ARE PRINCESSES! STAY HOME NEXT YEAR!" Which caused her to cry. She slammed her door, and I yelled out, "Put a damn note on your door next time!"
So, what should I do?
A. Notify courtesy patrol that she's yelling at kids and should probably put a sign up.
B. Walk over there and ask her to put a note on her door.
C. Call the police. (She's scaring little kids!)
D. Do nothing.
