I had a heated talk with someone I serve with the other day about if the draft should be started up again. I think it is a good idea but I am a bit torn about it for various reasons. It has its pro's and con's just like everything else. Our military now is made up of people who want to serve their country not counting those who just came in for the school funds. (idiots) Granted if we do draft we would have to be a bit more selective than before. None of this enlist or go to jail b.s. go to jail it cost me less and i don't want some kiddy groper in my bradly with me he would end up being added to my body count. Or some puss who is gonna hide in a hole and piss himself when the shit hits the fan. But on the other side maybe it will teach these punk ass gang banger something called respect but then again they may be the ones hiding in the whole in need of a clean pair of shorts. Not to mention those of us who have seen combat will have a bit more work to do looking after those who don't want to be there. After all it is there job to keep our people safe. But the thing that really bothers me is how few our numbers are. Is our pride and love for our home land still there, why is it I see our colors flying proudly on certain holidays and not on other days. Do Americans only love their country when gives them a day off. And what really pisses me off is those ppl who want to show their pride and keep out their flag letting it get torn up and rotted from the elements. And if it does happen to become to messed up to fly don't just throw it out there is a proper way to "retire" the flag, if you don't know how it's done give it to your local VFW post or military base or a recruter the should know what to do with it. I ask one thing from the people I chose to fight for, Give me a reason to fight! Right now I fight because i remember what made this country great it was the people. Before greedy suits wanted to stick there nose in every little hole they could find, before they forgot the meaning of the word truth. It was the everyday person who stood up and said this is how it should be and it was. And mainly I fight for my son in hopes that one day he won't have to. But each time I go away for however long I worry. Not about what I must face but what my family must face. Yes there is a war going on, and i find it shamfull that people complain about the loss of our troops, I don,t know the exact number right now but I willing to bet that in the same time span as the war 10 times as many at least were killed in the U.S. I din't hear to many ppl complaining about that unless they are directly connected. And don't give my that crap about oh yu don'y know what its like to loose someone close to you. Guess what I do, I've lost friends over there ppl I've trained and bled with, but that was from the war. And right here at home not 2 blocks from my house my younger brother was murdered for a copybook when he was only 8. Now you tell me what death toll americans should be comfronting our goverment about. War is war ppl die in wars thats what happens, don't get me wrong I hurt when we loose one of my fellow troops bur they knew what they signed into but they still fought with pride until the end with no regret. They will live forever in the hearts of many but as you remember them also remember those at home who lost their lives for nothing more than someone elses greed or envy.
