Good day fubar friends--just taking a few moments for a blog before heading out again...
Arrived here in the White Mountains with the family yesterday evening... kids were a bit of a challenge on the car trip... but that's behind us for now! Checked into our lovely hotel room and figured out who is sleeping where... then went down to the party on the hotel porch (which is very wide and wraps around 3/4 of the hotel--offering beautiful mountan views...and alas... some of the construction site out back where they obliterated the inground pool and are building a conference center which to me mars the beautiful of this grand old stone and wood struture... sighs... time marches on I suppose).
They've made a number of changes to this hotel...which we've spent a weekend at each summer for the past 14 years or so... one was good...they changed the approach to the hotel so that after the long drive down through the golf course... you curve gracefully up to the valet stand to the covered entry area.... it used to be that you had to make a loop to get to the valet stand and it was quite congested at peak arrival and departure time.
The hotel rooms have been reappointed... they have new beds and bedding which is quite luxurioius and comfy... I slept pretty well other than the fact that our room is located by the main stairs so we hear people clumping up and down... and the people above us sound like Clydesdales... (Oh and they do have carriage rides here drawn by Clydesdales).
I turned in early with the children as they were tired and left my husband to mingle with his friends downstairs (Did I mention that the first part of this vacation is with his company--and tomorrow we are on are own staying at another place not too far from here.).
Took the kids a bit to settle down but we were all asleep by the time Joe came up from the party...
Kids woke up around 7, hungry, so we hurried down to breakfast and ate with Eunice, Eric and their son Jack..and Leonid and his wife (whose name escapes me...they are Russian) and their son Andre.
Today we paid to have all three of our children participate in "Kid Camp" here at the hotel which runs until 4:30... so we checked them in and left them to their program.. and we are headed down the porch with books in hand to read... I didn't want to go far in case the kids need us... but it will be nice to have time to read my book!! And I have others in the car. Heeee heee. I'm so easy to please. :)
My daughter (6) cried yesterday any time anyone mentioned her going to kid camp... but today she went with a smile on her face... how bizarre? LOL... I thought she was gonna pitch a crying jag... My oldest (8) was chomping at the bit to go.... and my 4 year old boy was cool with it.
We've already passed our daughter out on the hotel grounds...she was all smiles...her group looked to consist of 4 or 5 other girls of similar age...and one boy. Every body loves her...so despite the fact that she can be a bit shy at first... people seek her out...so she usually is at ease fairly quickly.
We'll have to keep an eye out for the boys to see how they are fairing in their groups.
Okay... I got my book...I need some coffee... and I will be golden! :D

PS I only have wifi while we are here at the hotel... at the next place they only have wifi at the clubhouse...so I will be able to check in...but won't be on with any constancy.
