Texas schools have recently approved history books that state the the US civil war was about states' rights and not slavery. Does this bother you? If you read Texas "Declaration of Cause" for secession from the union it specifically states that violation of slave owning states returning slaves as the reason it was joining the south. It mentions slaves and slave owning and non slave owning states throughout the document.
A: it bothers me cause they are rewriting history and lying to students about an important part of history.
B: it doesn't bother me cause it is somewhat correct, if not the whole story. |
