Dark Enigma's blog: "Update on life right now"

Finally a bit of good news. She went in for the biopsy today and I got to talk to her for a few min before. She sounded really tired but in ok spirits. The biopsy went good. Later this afternoon they took her in for another procedure to put a port in so they could start dialysis. Everything went ok with it as well. Dad called while ago and they have let her rest and taking her down to do her first treatment with the dialysis and was expected to take 4 or more hours with as much fluid as she has retained. She still is to weak for the heart procedure and they have to get some fluid off her before they can do it anyway. Also her kidneys need to be where they can filter off the dye as well. She still has fluid in her lungs but Im hoping no more will build up since they are starting to drain her now. I just hope with all this she is not worse tomorrow with the tole it is taking on her doing it all in one day. If they can find out anything from her biopsy there is a possibility she wont have to stay on the dialysis if it is something that can get her kidneys functioning on their own again. Will update again when I hear more news.

Just got a call a bit ago from dad and gran is doing worse today, there are a couple of test the doctors want to do but she is weak and they cant do a test on her heart that they are wanting to do because of that and the fact it is a dye based test and her kidneys cant filter out the dye, she also has fluid in her lungs now and has just about quit eating. Her breathing is about the same. Dad said she looked a lot worse today and her spirits were not well. Will update again when something changes. Thanks again for you who have been there and continue to be, means more than you know.

Just got off the phone with dad and really no change with gran today. He wasn't able to get to the hospital today due to the weather here but did find out for some reason they had a problem in the critical care unit and had to move everyone out and into rooms in the middle of the night. He got to talk to her on the phone but not long because she is still having problems breathing.  I am sorry I have not been rating and helping out with my family lately, I have a lot of things on my mind right now and just have not been myself. I do appreciate all of you that have been checking in on me and the ones that have been putting up with me lately. I have some wonderful friends that I'm so thankful for, a few I know I have worn yall out this week so a special thank you for being there for me. I am in a bad place right now and not sure when I will pull out of it, I know a couple of you are thinking Oh lord I hope soon.....lol  Dad said he was going down there to see her tomorrow even if he had get the tractor out so maybe I will have more news about her tomorrow night. Thanks again for you who are keeping up with me and things here, means more to me than you know.

Finally found out a little about my gran today, up to this point nothing has really changed. The kidney specialist came in today and talked to my dad, he has looked over some of the blood work and just his initial thinking is she could be or have taken some medication that affected her kidneys back when she had a sever infection last year that caused damage and the slow shut down to her kidneys. We wont know for sure till all of her medication list comes in from her local doctor and its compared to her blood work, from what I understand. If they do not find this out from the test that were taken she will have to have a kidney biopsy done but not sure when. One thing I did find out is she is worse off today than she has been since she went to the hospital. She was having alot of problems breathing today, they increased her oxygen alot and put her on steroids to try to help with this. Dad said she looked pretty rough today compared to yesterday. I just hope this helps, he said she is really weak right now and if she does any kind of movement she gives completely out. Im feeling a bit better, been really busy today trying to get things ready in case we loose power and or water with the coming storm. Would rather be safe than sorry. Got all my clothes done up, washed up extra sheets and blankets from storage, cooked up some things so I can heat up stuff on the fire, went and got quick fix stuff to eat, Little one had to have marsh mellows, bought up water, and got a load of firewood ready to go. I wont know the extent of it till morning and that sucks. Oh well. If Im not here tomorrow guess everyone that reads this will know why. If you happen to want or need to get me a message most of the ladies in my top family have a way to get me a message. I wanted to say thank you to you who have checked in and left me comments and messages, it means alot. Will up date again when I can.

When I checked in on Gran last night I found out her body is retaining over 20 pounds of fluid. Her kidneys are not working so the fluid is going into her soft tissue instead of being filtered through the blood stream. The were trying to drain the fluid but as fast as they were draining, her body was putting the fluid back on. She seemed in good spirits but she always is. As of this morning a bed had become available at the bigger hospital 30 miles away. The nurse I just spoke with said she didn't sleep much and had a rough night. She will be transported by ambulance when the kidney specialist is in and waiting on her this morning. They are putting her in the CCU unit. I wasn't really happy with the nurse I was talking to this morning, every time I was asking a question its like she was not even sure how to answer and just kept telling me at her age things start shutting down. I hope once she gets down to the other hospital the specialist will be able to find out for sure what is going on. One good thing about her being there is I know the kidney staff. My paw was down there a few years ago when he had kidney cancer and it will be the same staff taking her case. The kidney staff is good there but not to happy with the hospital in whole. I am glad she will be in the CCU unit because at that hospital if you are in a regular room there they do not have the staff to take proper care of each patient. Been there done that with 3 other grandparents, needless to say have a lot of experience with this place, (holds a lot of bad memories as well). My dad is going up there with her this morning and following the ambulance down to get her set up so it will probably be later this afternoon before I know anything else. My fever broke last night but after waking this morning I have a low grade fever again so until I am totally well I can not go down there. Thank you all so much for the comments, warm wishes, calls, txts and prayers. I really appreciate it more than you can imagine. I love my dear friends and will update again when I find out more.

Well as it stands right now the doctor thinks my Gran may have kidney failure. She is in a very small home town hospital with no way for them to find out for sure what all is going on. Her doctor is wanting to have her transferred to a bigger hospital 30 miles from where she is but when they called there are no beds available at this time. The question was asked about another hospital and he said he wanted to wait and see if something opens up tomorrow. I'm sick, mad, frustrated, ill as hell, and totally broke down. I wish I could be there, they wouldn't even let me in the hospital right now with me running a fever nor would I want to go and give her something else. Sitting by the phone SUXXXXX!!!!!!!! I was hoping that another hospital would be an option since the one he wants her to go to isn't that great but was pretty much told not my decision......uggggggggggg. Feeling kinda lost right now and my nerves are shot. Thank you so much for all the notes, status comments, calls, txts and gifts. Will answer all later, not really up to it right now. Lots more involved with the situation (lets just say I'm PISSED off beyond words with what all I found out) but isn't there always but wont get into everything right now. Will update again later.
