I recently read and rated a mumm that asked about privacy issues. A lot of people responded that it did not matter if the government watched them because they were not doing anything wrong. In my reply I suggested they read a book called Animal Farm by George Orwell, and is the most famous satirical allegory of Soviet totalitarianism.
These words were spoken by Thomas Jefferson:
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
These by Dorothy Thompson:
When liberty is taken away by force it can be restored by force. When it is relinquished voluntarily by default it can never be recovered.
And these by Martin Luther King, Jr.:
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

With these quotes, think about our civilization our society as a whole. Would you say most of American citizens are sincerely ignorant and conscientiously stupid to the workings of the government around them?
When we as American citizens sit back and let a law pass because it is "for the greater good," when we as people scream out NO! That is not right! Do we protect our freedom or are we relinquishing our liberty voluntarily?
Is our government wasting the labors of the people under the pretenses of taking care of us?
This was put together more to make people think, this is a question to yourself, to your own beliefs. I know mine. Never let a day go by where you do not look injustice and ignorance in the eye. Never let a day go by where you do not know who you are, or why you believe the way you do.
My question I ask for you is, with all of this, do you believe our Freedoms are as strong as the day they started or have they weakened "for the better good?" Why do you feel this way? |
