Burning of Greenwood, Oklahoma - The Black Wall Street by Samuel Black After the civil war many African-Americans settled in Oklahoma because of employment opportunities from the oil fields. Around 1908 the community of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma was established. The Daily Tulsa Star was an African-American owned newspaper. Businesses owned by African-Americans flourished. Their communities were the best. Their schools were excellent. Greenwood was coined the Black Wall Street. However, because of jealousy, deceit, and discrimination, Greenwood was burned to the ground by white racists on June 1,1921. Based on the growth of African-Americans in Greenwood, Jim Crow laws legalizing segregation were passed in 1908. However, following World War I, the United States Supreme Court declared the Jim Crow segregation laws unconstitutional in 1915. African-Americans progressed thereafter without restriction. Growth ensued. Consequently, the African-American community became subjected to harassment and other discriminatory actions from white mobs. The gradual escalation of violence toward the African-American community of Greenwood did not cease. It only escalated. Two black prisoners were lynched by white mobs in 1919. On May 21, 1921, an African-American named Dick Rowland was arrested for allegedly assaulting Sarah Page, a white female elevator operator. However, Dick Rowland was never charged with a crime. Subsequently, inflammatory reporting generated by the white newspaper caused concern that Rowland may receive vigilante justice. This led to a series of confrontations between white mobs and the African-American community of Greenwood. As a result, on May 31, 1921 the outnumbered African-Americans were shot at by the angry white mobs. Several African-Americans died instantly including members of the white mob. Following the shooting of several African-Americans on June 1, 1921, the white mob systematically burned a thirty-five square block area of Greenwood. Schools, churches, businesses, and homes were burned. The estimated property loss reached above $2.3 million. The estimated death tolls of African-Americans were in the hundreds. White vigilantes arrested thousands of African-Americans and held them for no apparent reasons. Approximately 4,300 African-Americans were left homeless, and Greenwood was left in smoke and ashes. Several events followed the riots. Governor Robertson declared martial law, and the National Guardsmen established law and order. Mayor Evans converted the primary schools and a church into emergency hospitals. The Red Cross used the high school as its headquarters to support the residents of Greenwood. Sarah Page, the alleged white female who was allegedly assaulted by Dick Rowland left Tulsa, Oklahoma. The police chief was indicted and charged. After the riots which destroyed Greenwood, businesses were rebuilt, churches and schools reestablished and homes reconstructed; however, Greenwood never regained its prominence as a Black Wall Street after it was destroyed by vigilante racist white mobs. Even today entire blocks of Greenwood are still vacant and awaiting revitalization of the area. In 2003 a lawsuit for reparations was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. The lawsuit seeks damages, restitution and reparations for the African-Americans of Greenwood and their descendants based on the following violations of the United States Constitution: 1) deprivation of life and liberty pursuant to the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the 14th Amendment; 2) deprivation of property, privileges and immunities of United States Citizenship pursuant to the 14th Amendment; 3) violation of the Equal Protection Clause and the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the 14th Amendment; negligence, and various civil rights violations pursuant to U. S. C. Sections 1981, 1983, and 1985. What occurred in Greenwood, Oklahoma was a deliberate act of ultimate racial bigotry against the American-American population. Attorneys from across the nation have been assisting with this project to recover damages for the victims.
WASHINGTON - Barack Obama all but erased Hillary Rodham Clinton's once-imposing lead among national convention superdelegates on Friday and won fresh labor backing as elements of the Democratic Party began coalescing around the Illinois senator for the fall campaign. ADVERTISEMENT Obama picked up the backing of six superdelegates, including Rep. Donald Payne of New Jersey, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus who had been a Clinton supporter. In addition, the American Federation of Government Employees announced its support for Obama. The union claims about 600,000 members who work in the federal and Washington, D.C., governments. Obama, who won a convincing victory in the North Carolina primary and lost Indiana narrowly on Tuesday, has been steadily gaining strength in the days since. Clinton also gained a superdelegate. The developments left the former first lady with 271.5 superdelegates, to 269 for Obama. Little more than four months ago, on the eve of the primary season, she held a lead of 169-63. Superdelegates are party leaders who attend the convention delegates by virtue of their positions, and are not selected in primaries and caucuses. In addition to Payne, Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon, two members of the Democratic National Committee from California and a party official in South Carolina announced they were supporting Obama. "The election is over, everybody knows that. Obama has won," said Vernon Watkins, one of the two Californians. So, too, John Gage, president of the AFGE. "Our people, I think, recognize the enthusiasm and vitality behind Senator Obama's campaign," he said in a statement. "After careful consideration, I have reached the conclusion that Barack Obama can best bring about the change that our country so desperately wants and needs," said Payne, who in a statement said that Clinton is a good friend and he still holds her in high regard. Payne is one of at least 10 superdelegates who have switched allegiances from Clinton to Obama. None have publicly switched the other way. In the overall race for the nomination, Obama leads with 1,857.5 delegates, to 1,697 for Clinton. Obama is just 167.5 delegates short of the 2,025 delegates needed to win it. Clinton's new supporter was Rep. Chris Carney, D-Pa. His congressional district voted overwhelmingly for the former first lady in the Pennsylvania primary on April 22. Both Obama and Clinton have courted superdelegates in recent days in private meetings at party headquarters not far from the Capitol. Despite Watkins' assessment, Clinton has shown no signs she is ready to quit the race. She is heavily favored to win Tuesday's primary in West Virginia, and is in the midst of a two-day swing through several other states with upcoming elections.
Clinton can't win my fellow Democrats, read the news. Therefore if you want a Democrat who is strongest and has the best chances of beating McCain then you need to get with Obama unless you want to be in Iraq for another 100 years as McCain said himself and you want the rich to keep getting richer while gas prices skyrocket to 5.00 a gallon. As for this whole Obama preacher scandal the United Church of Christ is a predominately White denomination of Christianity. If the church was so anti-white then they would not be a part of a denomination that has a White majority. Furthermore his former pastors opinion is not the opinion of Obama; we all think for ourselves. Like Obama says his pastor is like an old uncle who you love but sometimes says some things you do not agree with. In the defense of the pastor I can understand his anger. America over the years has gotten further and further away from God. Prayer has been taken out of schools, In God We Trust off the new coins but then when a tragedy happens everyone wants to scream God Bless America, give me a freaking break.

To all my peeps, I am switching to my other name which is TheBigBlackKing. Please search me and add me. I was prohibited from posting mumms a long time ago without warning because I guess I posted mumms that were to racially controversial, this was before NSFW mumms were allowed. I did not post any racist shit because I am not a racist, I just posted mumms like should there be a Black president and other things like wanting to know peoples opinions on the rebel flag. Anyway I am switching to my other name so I can post mumms again but I am not going to even go where I used to go lol I don't need the drama. My new mumms will be questions about me and other general questions. So anyway please do a search and add my new other name because I will probably spend a lot of time on that name from now on. If you have problems finding me please send me an email to this name to let me know.
I just got into an argument with an ignorant ass hole on Yahoo because she called Barack Obama scum and then did not even have a legitimate explanation as to why she thinks he is scum. What amazes me is that this woman dates Black men but calls the first legitimately strong Black candidate for President scum without even having a reason to call him that. If you do not know about someone please seek the facts just do not believe what you hear, her dumb ass did not even know that Obama’s' mother is White. If she did not know that, I am sure she did not know enough about the man to call him scum, what a bitch.
First, look at how easy a schedule the Seahawks had, then look at how hard a schedule the Redskins had but yet, they are only separated by one game. The Seahawks only played two playoff teams this season compared to the five that the Redskins played. The Seahawks had a cakewalk schedule but only managed to go 10-6 while the Redskins had a difficult schedule and went 9-7. Seattle lost at home to the Saints for goodness sake! I am a die-hard Redskins fan, I saw every game they played this year, every game they lost could easily be blamed on one person, and he is Jason Campbell who turned the ball over more then a sleeping insomniac. Well, Jason Campbell is hurt and Todd Collins has stepped up to the plate. Throw in all the other things like the Skins playing passionate football with Sean Taylor on their minds and you get a recipe for a Skins win over Seattle. I do not know where the sports people get some of their experts from but after Seattle loses tomorrow, they should hire me. After all, I am an extremely good-looking Black man with a love for sports and a knack for writing and speaking. I hope I do not eat my words tomorrow lol.
I have been going through a real rough time with my health and the death of Redskins Star Safety and Friend Sean Taylor plus the Redskins lost a game that it looked like they would surely win today. I as well as they wanted to win the game so bad for Sean. I just thank God in spite of all the negative things in my life because the Bible says to give thanks even in the bad times. Therefore, I thank you Lord God for my life and everything I do have. I thank you Lord Jesus for letting me see 27 years and drawing close to 28. I will bless you oh Lord at all times and your praises shall continually be in my mouth. Hallelujah to the Lord of Hosts! Moreover, if any of you have a problem with this blog because I am a Christian that is too bad. I am not ashamed to proclaim my faith in God. He is my refuge, he is my strength, and without Him, I as well as you would be nothing whether you believe in Him or not. As a matter of fact if you do have a problem with me Loving God and recognizing His deity of the Father Son and Holy Spirit you can remove yourself right off my friends list.
