Music
I listen to everything... I'm not huge into country but I do like the classics... Kenny, waylon, willie, buck, Johnny AND June... My mom influenced most of my music tastes in the 80's... And my dad had me singing Creedence songs when I was 3. Queen was heard alot around our house.. as well as Nazareth, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Loverboy, Juice Newton, Kim Carnes and Pat Benetar, Platnum Blonde, Glass Tiger Fleetwood Mac.. REO Speedwagon and I was practically overdosed with STYX and DEEP PURPLE.
In the 90's I started venturing out on my own with musical tastes.. EMF, Jesus Jones, Guns and Roses, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest Cinderella, Quiet Riot and other heavy metal bands suddenly found my attention (parents hated it.. what a hipocracy) and during the Early 90's I found myself grounded to my room alot... no TV, no Friends allowed over, Shared a bunk bed with my brother who is 8 years younger.. luckily I had a fairly reliable radio and earphones (volume no lower than 6) at night I found stations from the states and soon got wind of punk music and grunge bands.... I was in love... Nirvana remains my number 1 but other band like soundgarden, the melvins, Pearl Jam, mudhoney, goldfinger, NOFX, AFI, Rancid, The Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Primus, Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros, Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day... the list goes on and on...
In highschool I had a good friend that worked at a local independant record store and he would bring me CD's (I owned a CD player almost 8 years before my parents... and they said I was wasting my money... find a cassette now ma!) Needless to say my tastes went all over the charts... Marylin manson, Danzig, Motorhead, the butthole surfers, weezer, ween, thrill kill cult, KLF (and affiliates) Aphex Twin, ORB, orbital, Dee lite, The Breeders, Veruca salt, Beastie Boys, Toad the wet Sprocket, James, the ghandharvis, Offspring, etc etc.
The late 90's and the new millenia never changed my constantly expanding musical repitiore.. still all over the spectrum although slighly more focus on certain styles now could be seen... Techno became alot more interesting as I used to hang out with DJ's... I'd help them out for free as it got me great exposure in the clubs and in turn I'd take requests and research songs and artists for them I'd also write thier reviews for various Papers and such.... I also noticed during this time a disturbing trend of bands emerging all making the same music... same general format... same songs... same vomit inducing feeling at hearing them... I had innocently discovered the music industries own personal cancer.... the manufactured band.... I hate HATE HATE absolutly fucking detest any and all of these bands (N-sync, Backstreet boys, S club seven, the spice girls... etc etc etc) they have bastardized music and the entire industry... shame on all of you for buying into them.... I hope they all rot in hell
