She came tonight as I sat alone

the girl I used to be

She gazed at me with her earnest eye

and questioned me reproachfully

Have you forgotten the many plans

and hopes I had for you?

The great Master, the spendid service

and obedience you would give?

As she spoke, I was very sad

for I wanted her pleased with me

this slender girl from the shadowy past

this girl I used to be

Gently rising I took her hand

and guided her through my life

where fretfully sleeping, my desires

lay patiently waiting to be completely fulfilled

She saw my obedience and service

given of love, need and desire

She saw the joy of serving each day

in sheltered walls of white

for the dear ones who came and went

As I shared with the girl I still might be

she smiled through tears at me

Hugging, she softly whispered

"The small girl lives together

with the Goddess you are meant to be"

I saw the woman I am now

pleased with the girl I used to be.
