I can't be the only one who thirsts
You know you are thirsty too
Yesterday, we shared a drink and then another
Seeming to never be able to quench our thirsts
Needing more to drink...more to taste
Savoring every drop. Licking our lips to sample again.
I awoke in the middle of the night still voracious as before
But it seems your appetite has been fulfilled
And I sit alone on your couch
With my cup in my hand
Wanting more to drink, to gulp, to taste
But it appears my thirst will go unquenched
Unless I get it myself
But to share a drink with you would be so much better
My parched mouth craves a taste of your water
Instead, I'm forced to suffer until I wither
Until I'm forced to crawl and seek an oasis elsewhere
But please believe, when I taste more water
I'll partake as if I will never be given more
Then, I will extract it all and be gone
Then YOU will be the one
Wishing for relief for your thirst
As the agony of lost water sinks deeper
And deeper to the spot within you
Where I once had let you hold mine.
