What are you waiting for?

On Tuesday afternoon a couple hundred bikers from the area escorted into the town the Dinity Viet Nam Vet memorial moving wall. the truck was pimped out to carry the wall place to place for everyone to see the 1/4 scale of the wall in DC.Not everyone can go to DC to see this memorial. The hush was enough to deafen you. On Thursday night it was all up and flowers put in the ground and blessed. I got the first glimpse of it and suddenly my heart dropped. It was 5 to 9 pm. It was dark and all the lights were on. At nine taps started and the tears started and i started to sob. A vet put his hand on my back and pulled me in for a hug... now i don't know this vet but he knew my pain. I walked to the ramp to the wall and stopped and said a prayer before i stepped up on sacred ground.By the time i got to the corner of the wall i was in tears yet again. because in the corner they have the panel that explains that the names etched into stone was in order of when they were killed in action or when they went missing and the next comment was that 1,700 plus are still missing. I calmed myself again to go to the end and see a tent which was lit and i went in the see a tomb and i again lost it in sobs. The tomb top has scenes from Nam with soilders doing their jobs in the bush and in country. the tomb is behind it and at that time it was empty. Behind it on either side was pics and names of two men from the Rochester area that were brought home this year. FINALLY they were laid to rest at home! On Friday they opened it up for the general public with a ceremony with pipers and color guards ....a wreath was laid for the POW/ MIA and the flag for said was left behind. a reminder that the 1,700 plus were left behind. they did a story called behind the wall. i lost it as it was renacted as a mother wife and a son went to see the solider they lost. i will get the story and put it in IF i can scan it or type it out without sobbing uncontrolably. After the story my good friend who is a piper started to play "Amazing Grace" now not only i was in tears but so was my husband and 99% of the people in the crowd. this has been one of the most powerful scenes i have seen or witnessed. if you can see anything like it please do and if you were a vets family or a vet your self or just like me a person that has been involved with a vet or two....THANK THEM FOR THEIR SERVICE and their loss. then contact your congressperson and tell them to get our POW/ MIA HOME....give the families the peace of closure. they deserve it and our fallen or missing deserve BETTER. A personal note to one of my favorite people in my life. THANK YOU baby for your service you time and effort and your love. May the Creator bless you and keep you!!
