Lets take a trip into history. You've all seen the movies where boy meets girl, they fall in love, they get married, eventually have children, raise the kids, love each other forever and then die together right?
Now, take a look at all the relationships you see around you, your parents, your relatives, friends, maybe even your own... Does it even remotely relate to the fairy tale love that has endured in the past?
If you're like me, the answer is no.
Now, boy meets girl through mainly physical attraction and lust. They might become boyfriend and girlfriend and fall in "love". But then, maybe the girlfriend gets pregnant, maybe she doesn't, still stuck in the dating stage. Then what happens? The little arguments start and your differences start to surface. Will the relationship last? The person you thought was the one now seems like the enemy.... What do you do? Will you strive to make the relationship better and see past your differences or will you just see this as a sign and end it.
It all boils down to this, the ancient love that prevailed for decades long ago, do not compare to the on and off love that we carelessly hold on to today. No longer does one find their true love early in life and live forever with their soul mate.
So what went wrong? In a span of roughly 30 years, the basic instinctual attractions and care giving abilities have dwindled at an alarming rate. So now I wonder will today's love prevail? Will we be able to find "the one" or will there be nothing but failed relationships and broken families in the future? Please give me your opinions on this burning question..... |
